my strategy is pretty similar to this. just start out filling up the corners with as many tiny orbs as you can, and when they start getting bigger, take those out and start a chain reaction. although, sometimes, if the corners are packed to the brim with 3's, 4's, and 5's, i'll bounce an orb straight off the back wall (or with a double-bank low off the side) to make an extra large orb. then i'll take out that one to lower everything by one. do that again and the chain reaction will take everything out. my chain reaction record is 20 orbs at once. i've done that two or three times now. [oh, i'm "endymion" on the supernova board]
two things i would like in a future update. 1. to be able to view the stats of other players in the top 10. mostly because i'd like to see what kind of chain reactions are being pulled off. 2. the ability to play versus mode with other players online.
Another old thread but I just wanted to say that this is still one of my favorite App Store games. I'm not that great but I still love the graphics and the concept. Not sure if anyone plays it anymore.
Almost every day - Play it on the iPhone and doubled on the iPad... Im waiting for a hopeful sale on the Orbital HD - I know the graphics are incredible, but I still have a hard time justifying the double dip. Anyways - Im not an expert, but I love the style, and another of the few games that always stays on the iPhone.
Yes - it is decent - but not more than that unfortunately. There are some iPhone games (Dragon's Lair) comes to mind that look really good on the iPad. Don't get me wrong with Orbital - it is certainly more than acceptable - but my mind is wanting those particle effects to be precise, and full of color. I want the aiming line on Supernova to be like a laser beam - I want the circles to have razor sharp edges - and they are not... The answer - get the HD version - just spend the $2.99... yeah -but there are SO many other games that I look at and put on my wish list - now if I could ever just decide to quit "wasting" money on apps that I am pretty certain would only be used a few times - I could just buy the HD and be done - but I don't... I think I need to take my Prozac..
!!!!! Just scored 45 on Pure mode, but the SERVER IS DOWN!!! Will the score get uploaded later? Even on the game website, the scores do not show. My previous high score was only 33, which had begun to seem like my limit until this one game out of nowhere...I really hope the score will still get submitted. It's probably the best in 24 hours, or close to it. I made sure the wifi signal never dropped, but was still cheated.... very late edit: Orbital Pure mode 44 - quickplay - iPod Touch:

Yeah, Grubjelly... totally a bunch of hacked leaderboards in this game. Nice to have you back, and complaining about absolutely nothing again
They're not hacked. When i was at 44, there was a choice between a risky move that could have opened up the board, and a sure-shot at one more point, so i took the latter. I've been playing since last summer, not every day obviously, but sometimes a few days in a row and for hours at a time. What got me hooked was scoring 29 within a few days of owning it; even though I've been to between about 28 and 31 dozens of times, i always got nervous right around point. I would have given all my scores in all other games to be able to get those top scores in orbital pure. Not just "get" those scores (or close to them), but experience the satisfaction of mastering that mode the way those players must have.
I haven't been playing as much recently..... Which is something I need to rectify if I want the Numero Uno spot back in Supernova. Question for the iPad players? Is it easier to aim on the iPad? I would imagine it would be like playing on the iPhone but with a scope. I've never played on one, but I started noticing a sharp rise in high scores on the leaderboards shortly after the iPad release.
Aiming on the ipad is easier in my opinion... Definitely more fun for 2 players Im hoping in the next update they add a 4 player mode for ipad!!
