I think I'm gonna pick this up too... I'm a sucker for anything with neon particles or physics, and considering this has both... Crashing aside, opinions so far are mostly positive then?
Hi Giovanna, well done on such a well polished app! And kudos for offering support so quickly and freely. If it helps, I'm running Orbital on a 32GB 3GS, which has been jailbroken (eek!) and is using firmware 3.0 EDIT: Am I right in thinking that when I sync with iTunes the iPhone syncs up all the minidump files somewhere (I'm pretty sure I've seen them somewhere in explorer?), if that's the case as you know them to be useful then I'll try and dig them out and get them to you asap.
Hi unconnected The crash logs would be very useful to find the cause of the crash. After a sync with iTunes you'll find them int the following folder: Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/<DEVICE_NAME> Windows Vista: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<DEVICE_NAME> Pleas send the logs to [email protected]. Thanks in advance ADR bitforge Ltd.
Shouldn't you be posting in the Jailbreak forums? Kinda sucks developers waste their time with jailbreakers when they could be doing better things.
I'm inclined to agree... no offense unconnected but if this issue is purely jailbreak-related then I wouldn't expect any help from developers. I'm sure you know you take risks when you do it. On the other hand, the dev probably won't know what it's related to until he's seen the log so...
WHAT? So your saying people who BUY APPS but didnt want the internet plan for the Iphone dont deserve good service from the devs? CMON guys what type of seggregation is this. Anywhays I love it when devs make such great promotional videos really got me interested in the game!
What does one thing have to do with the other? And by that i mean, what does actually paying for an app have to do with not wanting the iPhone data plan? Are you referring to having the phone unlocked?
It's the type of segregation where you're hacking a device to do stuff it's not supposed to be doing. It's like placing a brick in a microwave and expecting your money back when it blows up. Sure there are plenty of people who jailbreak and don't steal apps, but I think we'd all be lying if we said that wasn't the major appeal to most people. Developers supporting it would be foolishness on their behalf. Simple mathematics.
Wow, I'm such a pro at this game. game 1: 3 points game 2: 3 points game 3: 1 point game 4: 0 points game 5: 0 points
Woah less of the hate please, I have every right to jailbreak my iPhone (it's my hardware after all) and I did so because I wanted to install apps that weren't available in the locked-down app store (3G unrestrictor, Winterboard, etc), I'm still on the official UK carrier (O2) and I certainly understand that certain apps don't play nice with it, hence the reason I explicitly said I had a jailbroken iPhone in the first place! This is also why I'm more than willing to do what I can in order to help resolve the issue, i.e. providing the dump files to the guys at bitforge. I also know that if it's an issue with the underlying jailbreak that I'm SOL - this is the risk I take with jailbreaking. @ADR: I'll sync up when I get home from work and send the logs as soon as I can. Thanks again for such a well polished app.
I got the same crashes on my NOT Jailbroken 3GS 32GB. Connected it to facebook and boom the game was gone ever since. btw: Game 1: 0 Points Game 2: 0 Points Game 3: 2 Points uff ;-)
Well bro I consider this a bit unfair. I buy every app. Im about to reach 200. So that means if one of those apps dont work on my phone I shouldnt be entitled to some help? Btw the only reason why I hacked it simply beacuse of the carrier thing. I dont even use Winterboard or categories anymore.
I wasn't hating on you unconnected, but you can't deny that devs actively trying to make their game work properly on devices that are probably mostly used for piracy would be a weird decision. Plus it just lengthens development time. Both Apple and the teams that create the stuff that allows you to jailbreak warn you that stuff might not function properly, complaining about it afterwards just means you didn't think it through for long enough.
OK...I didn't know the general consensus was that people who jailbreak their devices = pirates? I don't know what's worse, the fact I have to jailbreak my device to install the apps I want, or that in doing so I automatically get categorized as a criminal?
Afraid so! The majority of people who chip games consoles are probably pirates too. I'm not denying there are plenty of people who do it for other reasons, but piracy is such a huuuge draw to people that it's more than likely that is the most popular reason for anything of that nature. Same goes for torrent programs, they insist that it's not designed specifically for piracy but there are hundreds of thousands of torrent files linking to copyrighted material all over the internet. Even if I'm technically wrong, I'm pretty sure that's the general consensus. We should probably get back on topic... this game looks cool and I don't wanna ruin the flow. Apologies to the topic creator.
Yep. I could be wrong as I don't own the game but this is what I've gathered. When compared to those two aforementioned games: Pros: -Gravity Mode (where balls fired have their trajectory bent by the gravitational forces of the balls already in play based on their size) -Two player mode. -Styly neon vector graphics. Cons: -No progressive scoring (blasting 3 planets in a single move is only worth 3 with no combo bonuses). -Online scoring is causing the game to crash for some folk.
Great game that I am terrible at so far. But on my non-jailbroken 3GS 32GB, the global leaderboard also crashes for me
You're at it again?! You don't have to be so negative about every little problem that occurs, cause they're gonna happen a lot in life. Just don't view the high scores until it's fixed, the dev's already posted a link you can view if you want to see your scores, here it is: http://orbital-game.com/
