To all the guys who want to know a strategy for the game... I don't have one. Every game is different which is what makes this game so great. The only thing i can suggest is, always bank your shots. I see people wanting to change the game but why? Things like knowing exactly when to shoot the cannon are what adds to the skill level. To Bitforge... Please don't change a thing. This game is almost perfect like it is. Everyone has a chance at a high score which is what is so cool! I was sitting in my garage with a cat on my lap drinking a beer when i got my high score. This game is so easy to play anywhere and anytime. Great job Bitforge!!
LOLZ I agree, the core game is perfect. I wouldn't mind seeing a couple more modes... some of the suggestions in previous posts sound really interesting.
Ok, after getting WAY too into this game, I gotta say that there's absolutely nothing wrong with the core game! I'm totally hooked on Gravity Mode now. The orbs finally boxed me in tonight with a score of 126! Rank #11, woot! (My strategy: Lots of little orbs, and Sinatra's "My Way" playing obnoxiously loudly. And luck.) (I was two games away from grabbing cat and beer to try that strategy ... maybe naother day!) Mini-Bug Report: My 3GS is definitely showing some frame drops ... video gets choppy! It hasn't always done this...maybe it's a factor of the # of orbs? I still think a Kid/Practice-mode where you could "Undo" your fatal shot and keep playing indefinitely would be nice -- both to practice wacky shots, and keep the newbies (like my g/f) entertained with the flashy colors.
Update 1.0.1 available now with the following changes: - Listen to your own music - Skip intro video - Fixed Facebook Login - Performance improvements - Various refinements
FIVE CLEARED WAH WAH WEE WAH Haha! I rarely look for achievements in my iPhone games, but they'd be well suited here. Or at least detailed stats (average score; number of combos; time played), and the ability to see what someone achieved when tapping on their score in the leaderboards (how long their game lasted; number of double/triple/etc. combos 'achieved'). In fact a more detailed leaderboard overall would be appreciated -- I'd like to see the scores of those closest to me.
In 1.0.1 we included for the 3GS a frame rate limiter. Battery should last longer now. We're working on further optimizations of batter life. Stay tuned for more to come.
Game seems a lot less stable since the update (on an iPhone 3G, 3.0.1, never jailbroken). It appears to struggle to start, with the initial load not really sped up when touching to skip the intro, which seems to initiate another load anyway. It's fine when you restart the device and don't use the phone for much else, but I ordinarily jump in and out of many applications and only ORBITAL seems to struggle. I've had it jump back to the springboard several times now (though launching the app again isn't usually problematic), and the app even starts without sound now occasionally! Don't know if its drain on the battery has improved yet, but I know the previous release drained it like no other.
I'd also love stats. And increase the top leaderboards to show at least the top 10 (selfishly said as i'm tied for #6 with 142)
Just bought this, will add a review to appstore later when I've had chance to get used to it, if the developer of GeoDefense recommended it then it must be good
Feature request: When the MUTE switch is engaged, please totally disable game sounds. (that way, I can play while I'm on a phone call without fiddling with all the settings ) Edit: This only seems to be a problem when I'm on a bluetooth headset.
Incredible game. I had no idea it would be this good. Probably the most "one more time" feeling of any idevice game that I've tried yet. This is one game I'll have to actually delete fairly often in order to get anything done. -lukeb
Added a nice 5-star review on appstore. I love that you can pick up and play this very quickly wherever you are and also you don't need to rely on the sound so you can leave your iDevice muted and still enjoy a quick game. 2-player is excellent, have you thought about expanding this to let you play your friends over the internet, I've recommend this to many people, be great to play them online and not just sat next to me Superb game, well worth the price and some!
