Just got this game yesterday and I gotta say I am in LOVE with the game! It's simply amazingly addictive! And I just scored 41 in gravity mode! Hoping to improve it soon!
i'm baffled by how addictive this game is. kinda like how frenzic was addictive. just got 138 on pure and my heart was pounding towards the end.
i'd personally be against the dramatic slow down of your losing shot: one of the addictive nature of this game, for me, is that when you lose, it takes but a second to quickly hop into the next game, which is in stark contrast to games like WildWest/Deep Pinball. Also on the topic of addictive-ness, I think the straightforward, low-scoring system gets people excited about the prospect of making it onto the leaderboard, and the devs may wanna stay away from instituting a different scoring system... at least until too many people have the same leaderboard-deserving score. and while there are times i thought manually controlling the aiming might come in handy, i greatly appreciate the fact that this is the one game i can truly play with one hand. i wouldn't be much bothered if we didn't get to adjust the aim ourselves.
Not sure how long you think that will take. I imagined a 5 second zoomed in slow motion display. 5 seconds is nothing. Maybe it can be turned on or off but I bet it would improve my game. I try some pretty wacky shots sometimes and I'd like to see exactly where I hit.
I mean, the slowdown is awesome in Peggle when it's for a big accomplishment, but when the majority of my games are low-scoring, I personally prefer starting the new game the next second. Mag, if you are waiting for the next discount, I'd just buy it at $3. I considered waiting as well, but I'm only happy to have contributed more to the development efforts by buying this yesterday.
There were tips earlier in this thread which sum up what I've been trying (in gravity). 1. Try to accumulate small orbs at the top 2. Don't be in a rush to get rid of orbs touching the death line; they are often helpful 3. Try to carom off the walls first instead of aiming directly at targets to soften the bounce-back if the aim wasn't perfect 4. Utilize large gravity fields in front of the gun to arc the shots. The longest runs of point-gains happen this way for me, when you've "carved out" that arched path, and you keep sending the shots into a narrow crevice where they get combos and/or end up as tiny orbs themselves. if there are other strategies, i'd love to hear them as well.
Thanks! But what is the purpose of accumulating small orbs at the top? Having multiple combos towards the end of the game?
Maybe I should, but I already bought too many games which I disliked (or, just dont play often) for full price (Star Hogs, Blades of Fury, Earth vs Moon). This is however the type of game which I probably will like, just figured I might aswell get it on sale to even out my other extra expenses.
you know, it probably matters less in gravity. but the way i see it, if you have smaller orbs towards the top and you are progressing into the arc'ing technique, popping them doesn't create a huge gap, almost guaranteeing you can continue creating smaller orbs in there. the point of that, i guess, would be that you'd be getting double or triple combos each time you arc something through that pass.
I have the new high score in Gravity guys!!! 183!! Man i love this game. I play it every day and absolutely love it! Back to trying for a new high! Good luck!
