I would like it if you could score 2 points and 3 points for getting rid of 2 orbs/3 orbs with one shot.
You DO get 2 and 3 points for destroying 2 or 3 orbs with one shot. I think you mean extra bonus points...
My wishlist stuff ... I like the current modes as-is. I'm torn about bonus points for combos, but it's refreshing to see a game where the score number means something definite. Aimed Mode: As others have suggested, I'd also love to see an Aimed mode (maybe call it Precision Mode or something). I'd like it where you could just tap or drag out anywhere on the field, and a guide-line would show the precise path to the edge of the screen. You'd still have to judge gravity and bounciness however. Score it separately, or leave it out of online scoring entirely. For eye/ear-candy, I love the idea of having your losing shot be slow-motion...adds to the agony, and the app already knows you're dead before YOU do. I'd love some more witty sayings out of the robo-voice (some sarcastic variations on Game Over, maybe), and the soundtrack is great but could be longer/more-varied. High Scores... I'd like to see a "last hour" category, in hopes that maybe that's a short enough time span I could actually rank! It would also be nice to see the names NEAR you, and not just the overall winners. Maybe even flush the "all time" lists at 30 days or something. I'd also like to see my high score for the current session shown in the game. I might never reach my personal best again, but it'd be nice to at least beat the score I had 10 minutes ago! In the "needlessly complicated" category, here are some other wacky ideas: Use whole field: Have game-over occur when you hit the launcher, not the line. (you might have to move the score text to ON the launcher) Proportional gravity: More spheres on-screen = stronger gravity warp per-sphere. This would make scoring easier, so, how about also... More hits to destroy. Why stop at 3? Combined with scaling gravity, I think this could/would still balance. Stale Orbs: Orbs that are not destroyed increase in # (hits to destroy) every X shots taken. (example, for every 5 attempted shots, your 1's become 2's, 2's become 3's, etc.)
I think bonuses could work if they appeared once every X shots made by the player - eg 5?... As for the stale Orbs, that is just pure evil...
i would love this, it'd be a scoreboard like flight control. i play alot from different locations, so it'd be awesome to be able to leave my mark wherever i'm working from. plus have the high score in my town..
Some people who just signed up with Facebook experience some issues. The bug will be solved with the next update. If you encounter such crashes while and after connecting with Facebook, please follow these instructions: 1) Remove ORBITAL from your iPhone/iPod 2) Install again 3) Don't connect with Facebook If you're interested read some infos about the bug here: http://tinyurl.com/facebook-crash-iphone
I've thought of a couple of modes as well... particularly from playing a lot multiplayer recently. Invisible mode: You cannot see the periphery of the orbs... just the numbers in the center. Crazy hard! but i think it would be fun. No wall mode: anything that goes off the right side of the screen appears on the left side of the screen (ie doodlejump)... would open up a whole new set of strategies Custom mode: customize the number of times the orbs need to be hit before exploding, including random (can have 1-5 at any time) Custom shapes: have the ability to choose to play with triangles, or squares, pentagons..etcs.. stars even... can make shapes at random Terminator orb: Every tenth orb is a special orb that blows through anything it touches. THere can be a little countdown in the corner. THe catch is that when the special orb finally stops, it has some ridiculus number of hits like 6, while normal orbs are 3. there would be strategy to eliminate as many orbs as you can with it... but strategically place it to not end up being huge in the end. Extra lives: getting a triple or quadruple hit gets you an extra life..., orb would just bounce off of your wall if you have an extra life, would be great for 2 player mode too Motion mode: Have the orbs in random motion, either stopping as shot is taken, or not stopping at all different Multiplayer maps: instead of just 1 small orb in the middle at the start... perhaps other symmetrical maps... that really make you strategize differently at the start of each game
pure high 9 just got Orbital at .99 before price jump, scored 9 on on 09-09-2009 after 9 hours. kidding about the 9 hrs, but boy is this hard
You think that is bad? I managed to get 22 on gravity. Decided to check high scores... The top score is 178. How the hell do you get 178??? This game sure is addictive. Problem gamblers should play this as an alternative to gambling.
One way to implement extra lives would be via "Undo" -- take back that last (fatal) shot! Unlimited "Undo" might be a nice way to provide for a "Kids Mode" (or Practice Mode) too ... I expect they rapidly get frustrated with a game where tiny mistakes are fatal!
Bleh, I got to 23 on Pure mode. Currently only playing Pure until I somehow manage to beat that high score. I swear this game is like crack or something. I could go for hours at home and I play during the bus rides to school.
Haha, is good to know that i'm not the only one that is addicted to this game. My highscore in grav mode is 52. Good luck with your scores Obitalians.
Does the developer visit this thread? Couple of issues: on an iPhone 3G, any incoming call (muted, rejected or answered) mutes in-game audio. You need to exit the app to get it working again. Also, I played till my battery was completely dead (the phone jumped back to springboard then turned off mid-game) and the battery warnings didn't pop up over the game. It was stuttering near the end ('lagging'), which may have been in time with when the warnings might have appeared.
Hi, thank you for your notice. We are aware of the incoming call bug, which will be fixed soon. We also experience stutters while the battery warnings come up (they should be displayed) and know that it is related to the operating system thread scheduler. You can't change that afaik... Any hints appreciated
