I beat the game! But there's still more. Spoiler Not sure what to do in this maze that you can only enter as the cat/fish thing.
So...I 'completed' Oquonie...but I think there is more. SPOILER, READ ONLY IF YOU FOUND ALL THE PILLARS (I've read the spoiler marked previous posts 5 minutes ago, but I'm not convinced). Spoiler So...I've turned into a fish and now I can travel everywhere. I do not think it's over...as I didn't think it was over when I first met the 'devs'. I know the game is abstract but it wouldn't have any sense. (Which is the meaning of all this? Why the effort?) Things I've noticed: In the central hub there is a place with a pot and a NE exit, you take that and you see just 2 tiles in the void. Sometimes there is a big furry alien there...it's been a while since I saw 'it'...maybe you can interact with it in fish form? How to summon it? When you meet one dev (the horned one) in the secret room NW of the room with cat and the little plant (notice there are arrows in the floor) he has a bubble with the 'reset' simbol (same as shark)....maybe means something? Maybe you need to meet him as Dino? Finally, there is a 'hiversaries' like door somewhere, when you push it you read some symbol I like to 'translate' as HELP. So...I've nothing concrete here of course, but I like to think it's not over yet and there is some 'proper' ending that explains at least something. Anyway, great game so far. It's like a modern, weird Myst. For some reason I didn't like that much Hiversaries but I plan to go back to it now. I think my problem is that my mind can much better memorize/decrypt iso room than 3D ones...dunno. Anyway Oquonie is really great.
No clue how i did it, but I just found the 'furry' alien as fish, and finally he talks!!!! How do I upload an image as spoiler from iPhone? Is it possible?
There is an apparently endless maze. Spoiler Where there is the second cat, in the NW wall there is a little opening you can enter when you are fish I wonder if you can solve it following a specific pattern.
Spoiler You mean the unicorn boy? Because I was able to get in there before becoming a fish...and still can't find anything new to do in there.
No, another cat. Spoiler Not the Unicorn boy nor the normal world...it's the other cat. Where it's the cat, in the NW wall there is a small opening, like a little arch-door.You can enter there just as fish, and you will fin an endless maze in all directions with random rooms. After 'completing' the game, so far, the 'weird' things that have no answer yet are: That maze The furry alien that asks for 2 sharks and a weird symbol in the middle Unicorn boy with the cross in the middle of the room. The Hiversaries door with 'HELP' Still I'm not sure we really completed the game. If yes...what's the meaning of all this? Did we set free the devs from their world? Or maybe it's just me wanting more...but why they have took the time to put those things in the game (like the Alien?). BTW...the Alien is not even in their wiki list. It's Year Walk and Device 6 all over again? Anyway, awesome game.
Ah ok. Hadn't been back there since, so I missed that. Also haven't seen the alien since he disappeared from his usual spot. Guess I'll go look for him.
If you find anything let me know!!! I'm dying to know!!! I've been obsessed with the game too, great stuff. I've even asked the dev to chime in...I'm super curious to know if it's over or not.
Spoiler He did say that door that looks like it has letters in it can't be opened yet, but will in the future. So I'm excited about the prospect of a content update.
REALLY??? WOOOOAH, this is great!!!! I may pick up again Hiversaires (I already own it). I've really really liked Oquonie so far, great experience.
I have unlocked a few of the red pillars without really any idea of how I did it. Frustratingly, I can't seem to repeat this dumb luck again. Can someone spoil the pattern for me? By the way, I love this game. A fricken piece of art! Edit: With persistence and plenty of luck, I got the remaining red pillars! I wish I understood the mechanisms of this game better, but what a trip it has been. I look forward to someone fully documenting the game's secrets.
I put quite a bit in my guide I linked to a few posts back. But I didn't snag photos of a few things, so not everything's in there. The dev said he'd consider adding multiple save slots, and if that happens I'd likely start over and try to document more as I play through it again.
Killercow (or a mod): would you mind removing the quote tags around the appinfo in the opening post? The iphone app doesn't display it properly.
AppUnwrapper: I did look at your guide and it kept me pointing in the right direction. Thank you very much for providing it and I do hope you continue to expand it. What it does not do for me is explain things; for instance, what the sequences were to unlock the pillars.
