I think i'm still in shock that Apple approved it. Wonder if Opera is now working on an iPad version. Hopefully Firefox is taking notes.
This is the first non gaming iPhone app that I am going to stay up for the release of for! ...It is coming out tonight right?
If your looking for speed, then Safari on the iPad definitely isn't lacking in that department I'm still playing around with Opera on my 3G and so far I still prefer Safari. Everything seems to snap into place perfectly with Safari and the scrolling is much smoother. With Opera you need to scroll around a bit more to align the webpages the way you want them to. Some of these issues can be addressed by changing the settings to mobile though.
Awesome, hope this is more compatible with 4.0 than Safari... Safari has some small bugs here and there, this would be great if it fixed them.
This is toucharcade on Opera with large text... sooo why does it look like crap unless zoomed in all the way?
I am really surprised this was approved. All those other browsers are techinniclly reskinned safari. Opera mini doesnt acuuly render pages its self. Opera uses servers to compress data and send it to your device.
Agreed. Definitely faster but the lack of true multitouch sucks. Hope it can be added someday but i doubt it.
it it much better than say icab mobile (which I realize is just a re skinned safari, but it was re skinned quite well)?
I'm kind of disappointed by the lack of multitouch support, and it would be nice if you could set how long pressing your finger on something will take to bring up that menu for "Select text, select picture, open in new tab, etc.". It takes a little longer than I'd like. Everything else about it I'm loving so far. There are obviously some tricks they threw in to speed up EDGE browsing, though I can't find much of a difference between it and Safari when dealing with 3G. Am I just going crazy or are they loading the exact same over 3G?
i suspect we will see updates for it soon, they just didn't want to put too much work into it when they also thought it would be rejected
