    Roadee Link $1.99

I know this App has been talked about on several Podcasts like Buzz out loud and Twit.

All I have heard so far is this is a open source Nav program. The reveiws on I-tunes look so so.

To be honest even if this app was great I suspect the reviews would be bad since this type of app could take a good chunk of the $99-34 Apps.

    Has anyone tried it yet?

To be honest I would like a Nav app for my phone but at the prices most want and all the bad reviews they are getting it would almost be better to just buy a full fledged Nav system?

Ok for $1.99 I had to give it a try.

It seems to work rather well so far.

Will give more feed back after I use it this weekend.

holy crap that looks like the map on GTA! i would totally use that if it worked well. the view shown is the same as the default map app that comes with the phone though. does this have 3-d view and voice ?

    RAD,
i've used Navigon US. my only complaint about it is that it takes awhile to load up. and if you get a call or have to look up something else or view a text message, you get to experience that long load time all over again. really aggrivating to have to wait so long to load this over and over while driving. the navigation was spot on, except in the middle of nowhere in east texas where even the native iphone map app was laughing at me when i tried to see my location. i liked it, but at the current generation of all these nav apps, i wouldn't pay that much for them. i'll be waiting for at least a 2 or 3.0 version to come out. 60-70 bucks is a pile of money for phone software.

I haven't seen any 3d maps on it yet. As far as the voice I think they have an example on the website link kind of robot sounding. Its clear enough to understand but does have a few mis pronunciations like "W" for west is pronounced as "WU" and "Rd" for road is pronounced "RD". To funny but I'm sure its on the bug list.
The app does not tell you the distance to the next turn.

I tried some routes today to see how it would work. In both cases it got me there. Sometimes the road announcement were way ahead of the actually street but in some cases this was good.

Tried another route on the weekend, this app doesn't deal very well with highway on/off ramps and doesn't tell you what exit.

It looks like all maps are downloaded on the fly for now. When I arrived at my destination it doesn't tell you it is on the right or left or distance to it the program just quites routing, would be nice if it said arrived at destination. I tried missing a turn on purpose, it doesn't say recalculating like some nav program do, it did seem to recover though. Edit: doesn't always recover very well.

I think this program has a long way to go; for $1.99 it does work and will get better as time goes on.

The other Nav apps seem to be asking way to much money or are using very outdated maps and still charging a premium price. It would almost be better to just buy a full fledged Nav system.

All the Nav program companies say they will raise the prices but I think they will end up lowering them.

For now I will wait for the updates and price drops.

Last words: Tom Tom $100 for the software $100 + for the mount, They must think Iphone users are crazy !

I'm hope Tom Tom will have a bundle deal. $200 is just way too much.
