That argument doesn't really work. One big thing a lot of people have fun with is competing. That's like saying something like "you could just not worry about that big game mode that doesn't function for some reason and just play the other modes" but the entire game is supposed to function properly. You see my point? So with such sales tactics... Excuse me if I never trust buying IAP consumables, in case the game gets turned into an IAP full version. *sigh* And there were developers who went and turned paid games into IAP full versions, like I said earlier. *facepalm* You know we are supposed to trust you won't do something like take the game away, right? Why would I trust someone who did that? You know how ticked off I would be if I actually bought a currency pack? More ticked off! Only slightly less than I am now, because those "turn paid game into IAP full version" things actually happened to me! Who does that?! Who does that and expects to continue getting sales? Just, why?
I don't see competition as a big game mode here, so I don't find your argument very convincing either. This isn't a pay-to-win game where you are in direct competition in a multiplayer environment. Now, I understand where you're coming from; those without ultimate power will be at a disadvantage on the leaderboards. The decision the dev has made is a reasonable one (IMHO) regarding monetizing his creation, but in order to be fair it would be very good of him to set up 2 separate leaderboards, one for those with ultimate power, and one for "low power".
Competition is part of the game. Some people want to compete. Arguing that you could just play the game without competing is similar to arguing that you could play another game mode instead of a messed up one... except both are built into the game and should work properly, see my point? Good idea. ...Wait, we have a problem. As they said, if you already have the locked skills earned, they are still earned... That's problematic. Nothing can be done that won't make a lot of people mad. Except perhaps simply turning the game into a paid one (and making Ultimate Power not an IAP). I already said how locking those powers is just going to make people mad: purchases of only money packs are suddenly not allowed access to their free game, etc. Of course, anyone who already got the game free would have it entirely free... But at least without causing unfair taking of anything. Suddenly locking the game behind an IAP would be a mess in any case.
No, I don't. There is no competition in this game. A leaderboard alone does not make a game about competition. Looking at a leaderboard is not another game mode, it is an extra. If the leaderboard button were removed from the options menu in this app, the game would not change.
Actually if you bought any consumable IAP (even 99 cent one) you can get the same powers as if you had Ultimate Power, I just don't advertise it because I can't enforce it! I store the fact that you purchased something in the game in the save file but once you delete the game it's gone. If you delete the game, the only thing you can recover is Ultimate Power. Game is still beatable without paywalled powers, it's just very very hard. Some people will be pissed and mad for sure. But at the end of the day if you don't want to pay $2 for Ultimate Power to play the game like you owned it, while having enjoyed it for free with no ads up to that point, then there's plenty of other Apps out there for you, and I'm sorry I couldn't accommodate you. I think it's fair.
The way I see it, the Ultimate Power pack was essentially a full game unlock, and that's the full game experience. I wish the game had been paid from the get go, but $2 for this game was a steal.
You don't get my point? The game has high scores. Competing for high scores is a part of the game... Yes, you don't have to actually compete, but the option is there for people who want to, like with my "different game modes" analogy. Arguing that you could just not compete is like arguing not to play a game mode: my point is, the thing should still work since it is part of the game. That's just proving my point that it's becoming pay-to-win, you know... Apparently I'm not convincing you not to do this, and anyway, I think I've said enough.

Lovely!!! Thank you so much for making this game better and better update after update! You're doing such a great job!
I suppose that isn't possible to make restorable due to the way Apple's system works. So I guess that's the closest to letting people who spent money on a freemium experience just keep the game as it was... Well, I've thought it over, and... it was free in the first place, and all things considered... I suppose this is as close as possible to not stealing money from anyone while changing it to this thing. I might buy it.. eventually... I still don't think it was completely right to do... It just wasn't too wrong, I guess...
I bought it, in case anyone cares. More importantly, I found two typos. When you go to buy Ultimate Power, on the screen that lists everything it includes, it's misspelled as "Ulitmate Power." Which reminded me, I spotted one other typo before which I forgot about. Choose to erase your save data and you will "loose" everything. That's supposed to be "lose." Oh, and it isn't very obvious that you need to buy Ultimate Power for the full game. "More power" could be interpreted as just having IAP currency, I guess. Maybe the tutorial mentions it now? I'm already past the beginning, so I don't know...
Thanks for your support, will fix the typos. Will see if I can figure out a correct way to present the whole Ultimate Power thing. For the most part ppl click through the tutorial message boxes without ever reading them.
Yes, currently working on an Eagle boost, which will save you when your falling and put you back on the platform (one time use) In the coming months I want to put together an update featuring a new enemy type and new abilities and hopefully 10 more levels with another boss. Right now I can't delete the leaderboard scores, so I'm going to raise the score value of everything to allow for ppl to top it again with the correct ratio of score to enemy in place
Free Hugs Bear I've been playing the game for ages and have gotten to Level 50 a number of times but occassionally that free hugs bear would appear on level 47 and it is driving me nuts because I can't seem to defeat him.Every time I attempt to get close to him to slash with my sword,he bumps me back and I lose a heart. I've tried Lvl 2 upgraded freeze and push force on him and he just gets out of them very quickly and continues to run around amok. I thought it was supposed to be like that Free Cake easter egg thing but it doesn't go away. Help?
I may have made him to hard, will make him easier to kill in next update. best strategy is wait for him to pass you by and hit him from the side, freeze helps a lot, but you can also push him off.
Maybe you could change the "get more power" button to something like "get full game or more power." And change Ultimate Power's name to something like "Full game."
I just wanted to say that I support all the changes/updates that you have made. I paid for the power doubler on release day because I enjoyed the game and wanted to support you. This game is still in my playing rotation because I haven't fully completed it yet. I've also made several friends download this. I'm looking forward to future levels!
