    Thanks for the Promo code!!!

This is the LAST day for Android users for the Free Batman Lego game! The Onlive site says the Free game offer expires 3:59 Pacific time Dec 11. Not sure if iOS users will be out of luck if the app doesn't get approved later on or not

So it's cool that you get a 30 percent discount, but if you subscribe using Gamespot. Is it a yearly subscription meaning 10 dollars a month? ( 1 month free) Thanks for the info.

It's a monthly subscription at $10/month. Honestly not worth it in my opinion unless there's a lot of games you'd like to try on the list. Though now with iPad support, the value is much higher considering how there's no other way to play those on your iPad. I just wish more were included, but hey Bioshock, Arkham Asylum, and tons more games are worth the subscription price when taking the iPad into consideration.

So you have to have your computer on to play it on your iPad? What's the point of that?

No computer is required for the Onlive mobile app. There are 3 Tiers of service

    1. The micro console that came out like over a year ago with it's own Xbox like controller. Must have an HDTV.

    2. Computer. You login on your computer and start playing a game

    3. The new Onlive Mobile app for phones and Tablets.

In order to have access to the FULL catalog of games instead of the 25 or so touch enabled games, you need a controller. Some android tablets with full USB ports or keyboard docks/cases can use wired Xbox controllers immediately but obviously the iPad can't, so there is a new wireless controller in their store that will work with all 3, the micro console, PC and mobile devices.

Hope they resubmit it with the necessary in-app purchase modifications. I really want to try it out on my iPad.

The end of the article is a little confusing. But as I understand it as it is now to purchase a game for onlive it must be done outside the app. So it still complies with apples policy.

Thanks again to SirAwesome for posting that link to Gamespot.

I ordered the wireless controller and got my discount for 30%, awesome deal !!! So with shipping. Including tax. 40.00 they took 15.00 off the cost of the controller but didn't discount shipping. Which is fine because I saved a lot of cash. To top it all off I got a free play pack. All games included which is regularly 10 bucks a month. Also I'm under no contract obligation so after a month, I can cancel if I want to. :D

    Is it out yet?

I mean, I was playing Mafia 2 on my crappy PC. One thing that bothers me, is bandwidth consumption..

Glad I could save you some money! Check out the current sales too becuase with the discount you can pick up mafia 2 or borderlands goty for 4.50. And a heads up when/if you cancel the playback, the cancelation is effective immediately, so wait until the last possible moment.

Okay, lemme get this straight (new to OnLive thing because my internet is shockingly slow so failed to get it on launch).....
I get a set-top box akin to PS3, and stream the game from that which I can control on iPad/phone? Simple as that?

They had a buy button within the app that left apple outside the cut, apple's being selfish and greedy so they wouldn't approve it. OnLive had to alter the app so they can't make purchases nor any links to the site within the app to make the purchase. That should have been quick and easy. Use safari to purchase the games and it should be easy, just one new bookmark for me and it should be done.

Although I don't understand why they say OnLive shouldn't have opened the service before the app was out since OnLive has been out for maybe half a year to a year, I haven't kept track, but it's been usable on PC so their service has been usable for quite a while even though the app isn't on the store yet. I'm going to buy Borderlands GotY which is 7.50 or something cheap right now.

Anyone else think Onlive is a huge huge huge threat to Apple's dominance in apps revenue?

Google buys so many companies a year, if they buy Onlive for cheap today and with their deep pockets, they can easily get big name games like Modern Warfare 3, Gears of War 3, Skyrim etc (they already got Batman which is one of the triple A games). They also have the best cloud network today for Onlive to take advantage of. Onlive's streaming technology will also allow Google to push video contents if they ever want to compete with iTV down the road. Google can also roll ads seamlessly into the Onlive service. I see this as a much better buy than say, Motorola.

Internet speed is only getting faster, not slower with LTE and FIOS. The service is already quite good and can only get better. Its only limitation today is the financial resources of a big company to acquire best of breed contents. I can see Skyrim as a very enjoyable experience with relatively slow paced fight, its combat is not that much more complex than Aralon.

Android is incredibly fragmented and Android Market will never be able to compete with iOS in gaming. But if Google buys Onlive, they will have a huge edge! Games dominate top grossing charts in both markets. I really hope Apple doesn't take Onlive lightly. You either allow this content on your store, or you treat this company seriously! Skyrim on Kindle Fire is completely possible with this technology, watch your back Apple!

Just remember your essentially doing a hd video stream. That means tis isn't really all that viable to do with today's data caps. Hell every Single month my family hits the at&t 150 gb limit because we stream Netflix and Hulu. Most cell phone data plans have at most what 4 gb's? That will be eaten up vERy fast. Sorry or all the weird punctuation , typing on a iPad sucks. So I see this at best being used via wifi, and maybe in a pinch once in awhile on your cell plan

Onlive can easily push out a low-bandwidth version to make itself more mobile friendly. 360P Youtube style is all it takes! It will be faster for households with slower connection too.

Sure you sacrifice image quality, but you make yourself much more accessible, I am sure Onlive can do this!
