For this being an extremely exciting piece of software, I'm not seeing a whole lot of excitement building up. Maybe people will need to see how well it works before the world goes ga-ga for this?

Can't wait 'til it launches on IOS! Hope it's later today!

Actually I think most(like I used to), don't even know how this works, or don't know about the service in general.

As mentioned previously onlive doesnt want apple taking a cut of thier profits like amazon with the kindle app, so you can only purchase games through their website

You seem to understand it now but for those not in the know: Its like the streaming option on Netflix only for video games. Basically instant gaming anywhere now. And I haven't seen this mentioned before but the onlive app WILL allow people to play games over a 4g celluar network. Plus another big bonus is even if your not into thier system you can demo any game on thier service for 30 min as many times as you want (losing all progress but still neat I think)

And one last note it has been mentioned that initially only the ipad is support with iphone support coming at a later date (seems strange to me as numerous android smartphones are supported at launch)

    Silly Question:

Does (or could, can, will) the service tie-in with a current XboxLive membership?

Apparently there is a .99 promo going on, saw this on YouTube. Not all these games will work with the iPad touch controls, so you have to get the New Onlive Wireless bluetooth controller. I know those with certain Android tablets have reported that their Xbox wired contollers were recognized but don't know for sure.

It seems Onlive since it is STREAMING & doesnt tax your devices hardware, it works even on $150 Netbooks. Saw it working fine on Android phones on youtube as well. I think this .99 sale is for a month and wont last long.

EDIT:Didn't realize it was an old video on YouTube, my bad!!!

Thats an old deal, something that still might be going is that when you sign up as a new member you can get any game for $1. Not sure if its still going on but it was on thanksgiving. Also everyone that logs in get lego batman for free as part of thier new update to support tablet/smartphones

I have been waiting for this to launch forever! I've tried onlive on my PC and it worked great. For me, having the ability to play console quality games on my iPad or even iPod Touch would be amazing. This service isn't for everyone and it makes sense. If you have a PS3/360, it would be a hard sell to get someone to sign up.

What I like is the thought that I can play a console game while moving about around the house at my leisure. Work, family and all the other stuff doesn't allow for much time to just sit and monopolize the TV any longer, so this would be a great alternative.

I looked at the game catalog and it looks like the 2 games I want are both touch enabled. I love Split/Second and have wanting a go at Saints Row the 3rd and might now be able to.

I really hope the app get's here soon. Instant download and am going to try out Lego first before committing to future purchases.

For those who are interested and might not know about it, there is already and Onlive viewer available for the iPad. You can watch games that people are currently playing as well as the brag clips and a lot of other things. I'm not sure how comparable it is to the actual app coming out, but it works and looks good.

    *edit*

Hmm, I just checked and Saints Row is not touch enabled. I swore it was when I checked earlier this morning. Oh well, guess I will get the controller if this turns out to be decent.

Also bear in mind that they want to make all the games touch compatible and that L.A noire is coming this week with touch controls made by rockstar.
Furthermore all games are playable with the bluetooth controller, available next week.

Why would anyone want to use a contoller with an iOS devices? I would only use this for touch enabled games.

Well i'm all for touch controls and i really love them, when they're well done! I'd rather use a controller for more complex games or those which were not created with touchscreens in mind.

@Fireball926 - thanks for that list, it will be helpful if/when the App is released.

@Killercow - Yeah, that will be great, again, if/wehn the App is released! :p

So I'm curious, if the games run well for you, are you picking up the controller? I'm waiting to see how Touch controls work. If they are decent, I might skip the Controller. It would be great if the controller could work with other games outside of the Onlive app. Could be the start of something common that gives us a physical control option.

Mmmmm Darksiders. Can't wait to see how that plays (and looks) on my iPad.

I'll definitely get the controller if this thing works half as well as it appears to. Hope they sell it at Gamestop so I can use my store credit.

I'll also have to try hooking a Wii remote up and seeing if that works.

If it works ok, the controller will be the first thing I purchase. The reason I like the controller is not all games are touch enabled, and sometimes I just want to lounge around with my iPad on the couch or easy chair, while my kids watch tv. Sure I could play on the PC, but then I'd have to go sit at my desk and be out of the social element with my kids. Plus, touch controls blow most of the time, but a gamepad for something like arkham city on the ipad, sign me up.
