This. A million times this. Especially if you like playing with one hand anywhere and everywhere and not needing to worry about playing against another person or AI.
I haven't played Jaipur as yet (I intend to), but at a 99 cent price point, you should absolutely not pass on Onirim. Even if it was priced higher, you wouldn't want to pass. It's a brilliant and unique card game. Plus, now that the first expansion has been released, I would imagine the others will eventually follow.
I agree, as a stats geek, I hate it when different modes of a game share the same stats or leaderboard. Heck, I'd even be okay with the existing listed stats getting 2 separate entries for each category although once more exps are added they'll probably need their own little tabs/pages.
Got the update but even when playing with the expansion, I don't see much different other than new cards and more doors. Does it prompt you or explain the "Invocation" mechanic at some point?
Here are the directions from BoardGame Geek (link to full PDFs at bottom): THE GLYPHS SET-UP Shuffle the 8 Glyph cards and the 4 Door cards of this expansion in the deck. When playing with The Book of Steps Lost and Found expansion, shuffle the 4 Goal cards with the 8 Goal cards of the other expansion, and reveal those 12 cards in a row. . VICTORY Obtain the 4 Door cards of this expansion along with the 8 Door cards of the Basic game. CHANGES TO BASIC GAME The Glyph cards are Location cards. All rules that apply to Location cards apply to the Glyph cards. A Glyph card can be played as part of a series of 3 cards of the same color in order to get a Door card from the deck. If you decide to discard a Glyph card from your hand (in phase 1, Play or discard a card), you trigger an Incantation: o Reveal the top 5 cards of the deck. o If there is at least 1 Door card among those 5 cards, put 1 of those Door cards on the table. o Put remaining 4 cards on the bottom of the deck in the order of your choice. o The color of the Door and the color of the discarded Glyph card do not need to be the same. o If there is no Door card among those 5 cards, put them all on the bottom of the deck in the order of your choice. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/156336/onirim-second-edition/files
Pause the game and look at the instruction manual. I'm still trying to understand the point of the Incantation, though. Not sure how to use it to my advantage.
Looks like the main advantage is being able to get a door straight away without a corresponding key. Although that's only if there's one in that batch of 5 cards, so it seems to be more luck than anything
Hope they do! Loving the game so far, it's very addictive! Looking at the layout of the tutorial menu they seem to have left space for further expansions so hopefully that's a good sign!
...with the cards are moved to the bottom of the stack, which could mean any bad things you find may be delayed.
Wait, so if the door is in that batch, you don't need a key for it? I thought it just comes to the top of the deck. Seemed useless. But if it's as you say, definitely worthwhile. But I don't see anything like that in the instructions.
Just tried it, if a door is in the batch you just move the door card to the far right (where you'd usually discard a card when you have a batch of 5 after discarding a key card). That door then automatically opens without a key
Whaaaaat? That changes everything. I was wondering how people thought this version could in any way be easier than the original, since you only get 8 more cards and need to open four extra doors. Now if only they'd separate the stats, I'd be more willing to practice the glyphs mode.
Hah got it for free Nice accident though. Have on android but did not want to spend for ios too. Nice one though.
