My On/Off switch is dodgy. Sometimes it works, but other times you either have to press it really hard, jiggle it around a bit or just wait 'til it goes off! What's wrong and how can I fix?

    Sorry mate.

    Happened with my friends iPod.

I am afraid it is a sign that you iPod/iPhone is on it's way out.

Jailbreak it and get an app that lets you do actions all with touch input to replace the hardware buttons, so if any of your buttons break, you can still turn it off etc.

...how would you turn it back on? Connect it to iTunes possibly, kinda inconvenient.

Choose the 'Reboot' option. It does it for you automatically without needing to use the button to turn it back on.

But yeah, wouldn't want to let the battery die.

It's a 3rd gen! Hope it's not on way out!

And now my icons randomly disappear! First iTunes icon went and came back. Bit later, the Video icon and now my Notes icon!
