I actually got 87 before using a life, but then I messed up and ended up with a total of 115... EDIT: Forgot to say - Great game.
Is there limit to how far you can go in the Survival mode? The game crashed on me. It was the bridge after the night scene on the Pirate ship (I think) .. I was around 260+ kills. Cleared everyone ... ninja jumped off screen ... game hung up ...
Love this game just beat it today, and that Mecha Pirate is something. I Lost the first time at about level 21 and after losing I decided to see what would happen if I went from level 1 to level 9 to gain levels and sure enough I gained 6 or 7 (cant remember). The Mecha Pirate was still fairly tough, but I managed to beat him which i don't think I could have done without the extralife thing and the 3rd level special, and also that bullet deflection. First time on survival got 50 kills, thought that was pretty good until I hear about people getting 100+?! Oh well, I guessI gotta keep playing. @MikaMobile Are there any planned updates? I would love to see some new levels with a higher level cap maybe? I think an update or new game called spoiler:OMG Aliens could be appropriate since it ends with the ninja in space? Just throwing an idea out.. Sorry if i spoiled it for anyone covered it up now....
I'm loving how there's a survival mode! I just got my ninja to level 30 and enjoying its perks. I hope the devs update this gem! Hate to see such a polished game go un-updated! Good work Mika Mobile! Keep up the good work!
That's great, but I think you should add in the ability to simply change direction inbetween swings as a perk you gain later on in the game, cause after midway through the game, I think experienced players that made it that far playing carefully should be rewarded with being freed up to stylishly attack enemies on either side like in a Jet Li movie. Or like God of War where you can interrupt combo animations.
On the flip side I think an early perk should be going into a block stance if you hold down "parry" for 3 seconds. Advanced players will avoid spamming this as you'll be quickly surrounded and struck in your back, but it'll give weaker players some breathing room at least in a few early levels. If they get overwhelmed, they can escape to one side of the level and hold block while they gather their thoughts. Again, this won't work for beginners forever. Or how about a "pushing block" perk for advanced players, that allows you to push back enemies while walking forward blocking. The risk is that it takes 3-4 seconds to go into that animation after holding "parry", you can only push regular enemies around for 5 seconds at a time, and your back is exposed as you walk slightly slower than normal. The advantage is that you can herd enemies closer together to take them out with combos or magic special.
Fighting the interface is not cool. If I'm not jumping when I wanted to parry I'm having difficulty turning around. Knowing that it's "as designed" isn't exactly reassuring.
I have to comment on this. Clumsy controls rarely makes game better, and in my opinion OMG Pirates! is no exception. I had too many cases where I died because of the controls, not because of being over powered by the enemy. And that's frustrating - in a wrong way. So couple things I'd like to see changed: - Ability to turn around at will, not by some clunky and slow parry + change direction or jump + change direction -combos. - Faster movement speed. At first the game feels too slow, but the upgrades makes it more closer to "normal speed", to "good speed". Movement speed should instead start from "normal", and then forget movement speed upgrades and rather upgrade health or attack power instead. (Optionaly movement speed can be upgraded slightly. Movement speed upgrades have the problem that you either have to make the game be too slow at first, or too fast later on. Neither is good, so movement speed upgrade needs to be small if it happens - start from "good speed", and then upgrade slightly to give a feeling of progression, but not too much to not make it too fast.) These two changes would make the game/fighting more dynamic, which in turn would make the game more fun. - Speech bubbles should require a tap for the next part of discussion (currently happens automaticly, which is either too slow or too fast), and give option to skip the whole discussion with one tap. Also what I hoped this game to have were continuous levels. Now each level is just 3 or so "screens" (though, there is sideways movement in each "screen"), and once you have beaten all the enemies in one screen, you can progress to the next screen. Continuous levels would have made the game feel more like an adventure. Overally, I enjoyed this game and recommend it for fans of side-scrolling fighting games. For 1,99$, it's a good deal. The graphics are good, there are different types of enemies (sword, gun, bomb - and different "difficulties" of those), the bosses are imaginary to say the least (though too few of them), and while I am not the biggest fan of the controls (too clumsy), the fighting is still fun thanks to the combo moves you unlock as your character levels up. What I were missing though were some kind of "holy s**t!!" -type of enemy. One that makes you wish you weren't there - or that the enemy weren't there. Also on the normal difficulty some of the enemy types were being too nice instead of trying to kill the player. Especially the bomb enemies were just looking at the scenery rather than throwing those bombs. Haven't played the hard difficulty yet though, so not sure if the enemies are more blood thirsty then. /me goes to play through the game again with hard difficulty.
Go back to earlier levels and just keep playing, I must have run the first half of the game 3-4 times so I was something like level 23 by the time the final boss was reached. I have no problem with the controls, I love the rythem feeling of pulling off combos and doing blocks/jumps is easy, just remember if you are moving you will jump, if not you will block.
I think the controls are easy and Smooth, maybe sometimes it gets clumsy with the Parry-Jump button, but it's OK. Now, I must say that I love the Gameplay, and a Survival Mode would be much appreciated and/or More Levels in a possible update! Grats for the Great Game MikaMobile!
Survival ode is included. I believe you just beat the game on easy and normal first. That's what another member said.
The game is awesome! But maybe to short? Anyway I like level up games so I will play more OMG Pirates in the future. Is there any planned update already?
