Hey guys, wanted to let folks know that OMG Pirates is out... although its seems like a few dozen posts beat us to it. Us developers are on vacation visiting family at the moment, so we're kinda "off the grid" for a few days, but we'll be jumping head first into e-mails, PM's and this thread when we get back. Hope people are enjoying the game, and we're looking forward to seeing people's feedback!
I'm sure you'll hear plenty of suggestions and/or complaints in the next few days, some warranted, some not. But it should be said at the outset that you guys have done a fantastic job with this game, and I for one can only wish you great success with it. I had high expectations for OMG Pirates, and they have been fulfilled in spades.
Thanks! Just a couple quick comments on what I've read so far: Being "stuck" facing a specific direction while attacking is as designed, not unlike a lot of old beat-em-ups. Watching your back is all part of the game. Something to note is that you can always break out of your combos with a parry or a jump, and it's a pretty good strategy to just leap when you want a rapid direction change. So when someone's sneaking up on you, parry, or give them a swift jump attack! Health bars on the bosses is actually a pretty good idea... although I kinda like the tension of not knowing when you're on your last sliver of health
Sweet Wow, finally this game is out i've been following toucarcade and twitter for a long time WONDERIING when this was going to come out! Thanks MIKAMOBILE! awesome Games!
Yay, i had 10 mins to play this at about 6:30am this morning in England and i'm back home so i can play some more. I'm in love with this game!
yop, finishing the game (i was in normal difficulty) unlocked both. You can also "perfect" your score/skill and gain levels by redoing previous levels and bosses.. very good product, honestly
Game Impressions Doh! Too much power to be granted to me! Do you like Double Dragon like beat'em ups? The graphics, animation and general style are spot on (a lot like the style already seen in Zombieville). They do a cute job of converting the four directions and two action buttons (block and attack) into many special maneuvers. The game also tracks your combos which, as I understand the system, is the number of blows you land without getting hit yourself at which point it resets. Get enough of these combos and you'll have powered up your SUPER MOVE which, as best as I can tell, will deliver some context sensitive attack to all nearby opponents. Something cute but maybe annoying is that baddies rarely go down nicely as most will need to be knocked down multiple times before they stay down. I'd really like to play Survival Mode so I hope it isn't too tough to complete the main campaign to get to that point.
Not sure, I've gotten Terribad , Apprentice, Average, Skilled. I haven't had too much time to play it ... but have had fun so far. I don't think the difficulty of Normal is bad ... very reasonable for a "Normal" difficulty level. My only one thing I notice is that on the pirates ship (don't remember the stage) you can go into the lower right corner and the ship occludes everything ... maybe add in something where the foreground items get some alpha to see thru. Animation is nice and sweet and smooth ... fun fun fun so far !
Fantastic. Just excellent. This game has exactly what I was looking for from Samurai: Way of the Warrior (and sadly didn't get, because the controls just weren't precise enough) - the feeling that once I get good enough, I'm untouchable. I can now get through the first level on Normal essentially unscathed (one or two hits if I'm sloppy) and get the Master Ninja ranking, and it feels awesome. The animation is so fluid and the whole thing looks and moves so smoothly, that countering, jumping, and combo-ing your way to flawless success is a terrific rush. Really looking forward to trying to perfect the other levels - I'm sure I'll be unable to Master all of them, I just don't have that much time to give it, but man am I enjoying perfecting the early game. Bravo. At $2, an absolute must buy.
Game is really really great. Way better than any others IMO. I didn't really enjoy Zombieville, but this. THIS. Controls are nice, animations are nice. Just wish it wasn't so short, but updates can fix that Wonderful game you have here Mika Mobile, very happy with my purchase.
im just wondering here... but does anyone know what the maximum level you can be is? cos my guy like stopped levelling up and the xp bars full
Mine's around the same, 56 Gave me 2 levels too, from level 1 to level 3. That's how I found out more combos seems to yield more experience. I wish block would instantly terminate the move I'm doing though. Like so many other games, if you're executing a move then you have to just wait for the move to finish.
