Is anyone getting a "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" when browsing the app store from your iDevice? I'm online as I can browse Safari, but I can't access the app store. I don't have access to iTunes right now
I haven't bought a game in a few weeks... but the video sold me... looks awesome. Sold! I'm always trying to find a game like TMNT 3 for NES - this looks damn close.
This is pretty fun, but the controls feel a little sticky to me right now. I'd like to be able to quickly turn while in the middle of a swing. Countering while in mid-swing would be great too.
The game will be on Top Chart easily. By far one of the best games on iPhone. It is a console game. A little short, but it is perfect. Devs, you have a rare jewel here, over 100k apps, you have a chance to win again. Keep the game alive!!!! Add multiplayer. Add more stages. Create OMG Ninjas, where we control the Pirates. OMG Zombies, OMG Villagers (guy that kills zombies at Zombivielle), OMG Fourlogy, or, to be creative AMG, All My God (Zombies, Pirates, Ninjas, Villagers). You got the idea, don't you? I am willing to pay at least $20 for OMG Fourlogy or AMG (whatever you think is better name). Congrats, Bruno ps: I will install Zombieville again to salute you
They controls are not sticky. You just cannot turn while attacking (which, if you think about it, makes sense). I think it adds depth to the game and forces you to be more tactical on your attacks/defenses. If you try to power through by button mashing, you will get killed -- simple as that. Countering in mid swing would be good, though. As it is, you can only block and counterattack (which gives your a pretty devastating slash), but I love killing an enemy as he's about to take a swing at me. Maybe for the update?
Just keep going at him. Parry and counterattack, use your special power on him. It would be nice if he had a health bar, so you know where you are in the fight.
Awwwww crap! But I mean it in an awesome way. I was trying to finish up our Beta today to submit tomorrow! But I must download .... who needs sleep ?
thanks for the advice i switched to easy and now im up to the last boss though and thts so true about the health bar, its pretty redonk not knowing how far along you are in a boss fight, an id love a flip screen option... maddd game though (Y)
Umm is mecha pirate the last boss? Cos i am at the mecha pirate part i just cant kill him! Pls help !
looks pretty cool, but really, after zombiville and inkvaders, i'm getting pretty tired of left to right hack-n-slash games... i'm pretty sure the catchy art style will be a big hit with most people. Good luck!
Great game, and lots of fun to play. I too felt the controls were a bit "sticky" and a bit hard to maneuver at times. I agree, the lack of a enemy boss power bar is awkward. It could also be a bit longer in play. Overall, it's well worth $1.99!
Game Impressions I'm a developer (also using Unity) so my review may be a little biased. Just finished the game. It took me 2 hours to finish it, the last 45 minutes on the last boss! The last boss (the rum powered pirate) is slippery, meaning that if you bump into it you'll slide to one of the sides. This makes it hard to hit it easilly. It may have been done on purpose, but it's extremelly frustrating when playing (Mika, please disable collision detection on the final boss's character controller ) Overall the game is really really good. Everything is extra polished and the animations are superb! The characters are original and funny (the bar's boss is hilarious :-D). The difficulty level is good for gamers. The game's animation is really smooth (played it on an iPod 2G) and the game play is excellent, albeit some small issues with combos (those issues are related to my gaming ability :-D) On the negative side I find the controls "sticky" like it was previously said. And it's not the fact that you can't chage directions mid-swing (which I also don't like, but I respect the devs decision). Sometimes I really wanted to change directions and I struggled to do it. Why not add an option to change control's sensitivity? From what I could see you're probably adding direction changes to a vector, so multiply it by a sensitivity value A thing that I also found frustating was the fact that there are no damage bars on the bosses. It makes it hard to know if you're almost done. Congrats on an excellent game. I'm sure this will be a hit! I'll do my best to make a better game than yours, since we're both doing silly 2d stuff :-D (shameless add here: http://www.ninjapigs.com ) Big Pig (aka Alex)
Yay, it's out now! Already bought, and it is very fun. Except I always get a crappy rank at the end lmao.
wow i'm addicted =) This game has slick graphics, and an awesome fast paced gameplay. The "RPG" elements really makes this fun, and being able to redo first levels with your now high level ninja is pretty intense. I find controls to be great, you cannot be successul by mashing buttons at later levels, and timing will eventually be everything. But once you get the hang of it, you really feel in control or your ninja's every action, and damn, that feels good. One of the best games on my iphone now, excellent for bus rides and such as well, since your character progression is saved frequently. Now, a 4player brawl, versus, and/or 2player Coop version would soooo make it the best game in the universe and beyond. I'm jealous...
So, are we talking about a 4-way pad or a 2-way one ? I liked the simplicity of Zombieville and Inkvaders and usually hate 4 way pads like in castle of magic. Are the controls simple and really good ?
It's a 4-way directional pad, with buttons for attack and jump/block. THe controls are intuitive and well implemented; the only issue seems to be the ability to turn around quickly; some people feel that it's a bit sticky. We have yet to hear from somebody who thought that was a deal breaker. You can't really compare OMG Pirates with Castle of Magic in the control department. Platformers require a high degree of precision to hit platforms, land on moving enemies, etc. Brawlers like OMG Pirates require controls that point you in the general direction of the enemy and buttons that register fast enough to allow you to jump/dodge, block, and pull off combos -- all of which this game pulls off very well. From a gameplay perspective, OMB Pirates is a generational leap from Zombieville. They're not even in the same league.
