Find a bottle of windex, pour it into a bucket, then go buy some rice, and put the iPhone in the rice. Then get yelled at by your parents.
Well he probably didn't have time (and it was only like 6 posts before he said his dad turned it on). You should show him this thread and make him feel guilty for what he did so he buys you a new one
I did that once after my iPod went in the dryer. My iPod's screen looked ****ed, and I heard a sizzle. It was miraculously fine afterwards, just don't touch it, put it in a back of rice.
I keep a bag of rice in the house at all times, just in case. Kinda like the towel in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I looked up vindaloo online and it looks soooo good! Why cant we get that in the states! I dropped my ex-wifes camera in the ocean. Trashed! At least we don't have salt water in our toilets!
NEVER EVER turn it on while it is soaked! NEVER. If you turn it on, it may be short circuited or the screen can take serious damage. Put it in a bowl of rice, as everybody said. And even if you had still warranty - no chance, because they have a control strip in these devices. When water gets into the device, the control strip changes his colour and your warranty is gone. Btw., how did you manage to drown it in the toilet? Fell it out of your shirt pocket while... errr... forget it.
Some people have a habit of keeping their phone in their back pocket, so when they drop trou to do some business and forget that it's in there ... splash. Or he could have been standing at the can, operating it one-handed when he experienced a sudden spasm... Damn. I told myself I wasn't going to go for the low-hanging fruit. And in context, even that sounds like a euphemism. Well, a different euphemism. Anyway, if the guy's dad turned it on already there's a good chance it's fried. (Well, good chance it was anyway since it was on when it droped.) Let's hope not, but plan for the worst anyway.
Hey guys Quick update for you all. It's working!!!! I can home and tried turning it on. Nothing Then I connected it to a power source (having remembered it was on low power before it took the plunge). When I pressed the home button it goes to the apple symbol and then flashes white and then goes dead. Worried that I had short circuited it I tried again. It did the same thing. On the third try it went to the apple symbol and then showed the 'connect to itunes' screen. I have noticed that the screen has gone a bit weird at certain angles that's all right for me. I have finally got some rice, so decided rather than trying it out yet, I will put it in rice just to get all of the moisture out. If this iPhone survives, it will be a miracle. Oh and about how it got in the toilet. As I finished doing my business and flushed. There was my iPhone on the window sill on top of my jumper. Deciding to put the jumper on I reach for it and put it on, forgetting about the phone. Once I had got the jumper on I looked around for my iPhone. Then I looked down. There it was, in the toilet. It must have been pulled on by the jumper then dropped into the toilet. It must have been there for a few seconds, as I got the jumper on before I realised. The screen flashed on to the unlock screen and then went black while it was still in the water. Will keep you updated! Mad
Congrats, but do yourself a favor -- and this is important: STOP TURNING IT ON. It hasn't been sitting long enough to be dry yet. While there may not be enough moisture (or moisture in the wrong places) on critical components, I guarantee there's still liquid in it, and if you start carrying it around and using it, the water is going to move around and can still kill the device if it moves to a location where it connects two or more circuits that shouldn't be connected. Buy some rice. Leave your device buried in it for a couple of days. Preferably keep it in a nice warm, dry place to promote evaporation.
What I said before: "I have finally got some rice, so decided rather than trying it out yet, I will put it in rice just to get all of the moisture out.".
Whoops, missed that line. But good, keep it in there a couple of days. If it worked that brief moment before you dunked it in the rice then there's a good chance it will survive -- though there's no guarantee the whole thing survived. After a couple of days put it through a battery of tests: WiFi, 3G, Bluetooth, headphones, dock connector, physical buttons, everything. There may still be permanent damage but it may turn out to be livable.
1. Turn phone upside down and leave it 2. put it in a bole of rice 3. leave it somewhere warm ( side of radiator ) 4. leave it for atleast 5 days you need the phone to be asif it is overheating so leave it somewhere really hot I did this when i dropped my phone in the bath, it turned out allright but it took ages to charge it. Once you have left it for 5 daysdont turn it straight on plug it in to your pc and leave it for 10 minutes then try it...
