Thanks. : ) We spent a lot of time on the environment and on the quests. We also chose the bad guys carefully.

@Duke12---The combat is nothing like Wizzard Island. The editor we use with Unity--is now the new ORK Framework. Wizzard Island was made with ORK1. The developer of ORK has grown his framework into a very strong game-making tool and we've been astonished at what it can do. I've only touched the surface of what it can do in Omber. Will be using more of its features in our next game because that's how we grow. Build and make things better if we can. Find out what you like---like the new controls were the result of someone's comment about Wizzard Island---and put as much of what you like in as we can.

I might redo Wizzard Island at some point but concentrating right now on our next game which will also have a very rich environmnent, many quests and more features. I think Omber is a big step forward for us. : ) We got our feet wet in Wizzard Island. : ) Had to start somewhere.

One thing I liked about making Omber is combining the real (medieval type real) world with a touch of fantasy toon, as in Home of the Entfolk, with its tiny blacksmith shop and houses. In reality you hardly ever run into fairyish places--but at least there you can. : )

Same makers as The Quest = Instabuy. However this ends up being for a game experience I am already happy to support this small dev team's efforts! Will post imps when I get time!

Also, the app icon is dope, I like the name, classic western RPG references and no IAP premium nature of the game! Worth my money for these elements alone!

    I'm enjoying it a lot!

I love that I can play a female character. Playing a male character has never made a game less fun for me, but as a woman gamer I find being able to play a female makes a game especially cool.

And it's always nice to see a new game from a longtime favorite. (The Quest expansions have kept me entertained for ages!)

Early impressions, i can see myself playing this.....but.....there are some issues as as all games usually have some teething problems before updates. So far its very slow moving around, when entering dialougue and then trying to exit and move away from npc/task it keeps going back into dialougue, there are no sensitivity controls either.
Dont want to sound too negative as it seems like a decent game, just needs some quick updates. Ill keep playing and post more imps

Thank you, Alexythimia! By the way, if you like to read books and can find Liz's bookstore, some of her books increase your stats and some of them unlock different Easter eggs. :)

Thanks, Gurney Halleck. By the way, there are at least three members of Touch Arcade who are npc's in the game. It's a nice challenge to find them. Maybe we should make that a contest?

Yay, Valentia, I'm glad you liked the heroine. : ) We'll do more with social interactions in our next game.

There is a great plugin for Ork (editor we're using) called Love/Hate now in the Unity asset store. It can increase the richness of interactions. We'll put all your ninety nine cents eps towards it. :)

I think there is female armor in Omber. :)

The icon is what made me check out the game on TA, it was very different - so cheers to the icon, I dig it. Just watched the first video posted in this thread and the person playing seemed to be stuck at the spider or unsure of what to do, so I may wait a bit on this one. Will look into dev's previous games to see what else they've put out.

The spider is very easy to kill. : ) Just tap any icon in the hotbar. I'm glad you like the icon. I thought it was good because you travel with an Ent companion---Root. Not everyone has a tree as their friend. He has his own spell in your hot bar--Tangle. : )

The spider is easy because it's your first monster encounter. But can you find the Baby Spider hidden in that level and take it to its mother?

If you can, you can get a fantastic tiara from a little girl in Spider Wood. : )

This game is quite different from our last--it's more like our Quest expansions except fighting is real time but that's softened by the on screen heal potion--it heals you a bit every time you tap it if you're quick. : )

If you're still on the fence, pm me for a promo code. I have one left. : )

How does this move about compared to The Quest. Is it still that first person turn based direction movement? Asking because to be honest I couldn't get into The Quest because it made me feel sick after away. Is this a similar experience in terms of movement?

It's first person. I didn't get any complaints from the betatesters about movement or the controls. I really like the controls and the movement. I don't know how to answer your question except to say the controls made me feel very comfortable moving around.

Movement is a bit tight when you land in the Resistance Hideout because it's a cave and there is so much to interact with there but once you're out of the cave--you can always teleport back there if you buy a scroll from Pedsipec--movement is or was for me really easy.

It's not turn based--it's real time.

All I can say is that a long time betatester of ours--Old Shaman--said the game is really neat.

Now that's not the same as Awesome. As he is an "Old" Shaman. : ) But I was quite happy that he said it's neat. "Neat" from him means at least it's fun.

    : )

As long as I can make "Neat" games I'm happy. : ) We will try to make them neater and neater.

As I said, I have one Promo code left right now if you want to try it pm me. First person to ask gets it naturally. : )

When you first put out a game, you hug your Promo codes close and only use them for advertising and basically family and friends who tested the game and you don't want their provisioning profiles to expire and leave them with nothing and Omber was just released. But I have one. One right now. : )

Looks interesting, but what's the deal with the shield orientation? I'm kinda confused and put off by the way it's displayed. Matter of fact, why display it at all? What about having just the top of it pop up in the bottom of the screen whenever there's a block?

It has it's own animations. What you see in the video is more or less what you see when you enter a new scene--it animates and when you're fighting monsters. You can unequip it if you like or put it in your other hand which might be more comfortable.

No one ever found it to be a problem or I would have changed it. : )

However, I will take a look at it and see if it needs to be changed. I never thought the shield orientation would be a problem. : )

But it seems it's a question mark for a few people who haven't actually played the game so will wait for feedback from people who are playing.

I think that's fair as my betatesters and I really never felt uncomfortable with that shield and I had some good betatesters who have played many rpg games over many years. Nobody ever didn't like the shield.

If they had made even a peep, I would have bounced that shield in another direction. : )

Here's a video I made using Fraps and You Tube on the PC--PC has different controls so you have a joystick on the left side--but everything else should be the same. You should really play in landscape mode. I have to include portrait because iphone always defaults to portrait when it's loaded but landscape is the way to go.

I will eventually get a software program that allows me to make in game videos on mac but haven't found one I like yet. You can kill the spider. : ) If anyone seriously doesn't like the orientation of the shield I can change it in an update. But it's part of you--it's 3d--it doesn't just pop up at certain times. : )

Everything you have to say is important to me. So I'm happy to adjust where I can. But try playing the game and exploring -- getting and solving quests--answering riddles--helping people---saving the poor villagers--there's a lot there beyond the shield. : )

I always play as a Thief by the way because you get lockpicks. Otherwise you have to buy them and lockpicks are important to some quests. : ) And I like playing as a thief because let's face it---that's what we do! : ) :p Who hasn't looted everything in sight whenever you can? :D:D

The choices you make at the beginning of the game do have repercussions. : )
