    Sensing a trend here.

    Might be good to change the title as well, since I was originally just asking a question.

    Something like "Best Always Free iOS Games"?

    Please, ArcanoAreno FREE IMHO is not fit for this thread.

    It's only a 10 level demo (and it's not "older").

    Thanks. I didn't make it that far.

    Agree that the threshold has to be that the game can't be "limited" in any way, so I appreciate when folks let me know.

    EDIT to add: I also differentiate between "lite" versions of games and standalone promotional spinoffs like Spider, Real Racing GTI and Knight's Onrush. And I'm not fully hung up on how old a game is. It's more important that it's always free and not likely to get posted in the forum otherwise.

    So the rules of engagement would be:

    1. Games should be permenantly free (or at least have been free for a month or more)
    2. Games should generally not be "lite" versions, unless they are "lite" but still full games
    3. Freemiums should generally be avoided unless they are fully playable without purchase
    4. Ads are OK as long as they don't inhibit gameplay
    5. Games should generally be "off the radar" and not likely to get posted otherwise
    6. Games should be very good...favorites even.

    Blimp: The Flying Adventures puts the player in the shoes of a war veteran Zed Pelin, who has to once more get his hands dirty when a malevolent empire attacks a small, independent planet.
    The player must help the resistance movement by transporting passengers and goods, placing bombs, protecting valuable targets and, of course, decimating the enemy forces using the blimp’s airstrike attack.

    The game contains 20 beautiful, hand-drawn, levels scattered around dark forests, mines, red rocks and snowy mountains. This, together with an original soundtrack and blimp’s innovative flight mechanics, create an experience like no other.

    * beautiful hand-painted graphics
    * high quality particle effects (fires, steams, explosions, radiations etc.)
    * 20 action packed levels
    * 4 completely different locations (dark forest, mines, snow mountains, red rocks)
    * deceitful enemies incl. tanks, gun nests, blimps, bunkers
    * comic style briefs before each mission
    * created exclusively for iPhone/iPod touch with accelerometer controls in mind
    * global score
    * original soundtrack

    Blimp is decent, but lacking personality and that certain 'it-factor' that makes a game addictive.

    Missed this from back on page 3...good game...added to OP.

    Removed the Hangman game, which went to $.99.

    I'm currently downloading most of the stuff in the OP that I haven't played yet.

    Historically, TA does not sticky threads like this. If you search back maybe 9-12 months, you will find another huge best freebies thread.

    I think the rationale is that, no matter how well intentioned, the OP will eventually lose interest, as no one can keep up with such an undertaking forever. So do it once, right, every however many months, and let folks search for it.

    @chess: Just curious..Can you beat Whacksy Taxi? I got up to Las Vegas in the Classic mode (I think) and just can't pass it. Its difficult when I can't "steer" and jump at the same time. Maybe I need to use the brakes though.. lol..

    Keeping up with playing all of the games in this thread along with a couple of great freebies the past week or so (Meganoid, ChocoRunner, Cuddle Bears, US Warfare) has kept me to busy to play it much, but I made it to Vegas as well.

    That reminds me...I'm really surprised that there isn't a good Bump n Jump clone on iOS.

    Need to do some weeding on the list and tried most of the games that I hadn't:

    Staying:

    GrizzzlyAdv: Decent little platformer...kind of generic and floaty, but not bad.
    Light Bike 2: So much potential here, but the camera is too close to the bike, which removes strategy entirely
    RunRunDash: Fun little arcade game. Will keep on the list, but it did crash on me a few times.
    Go!: Need to give this one some time...couldn't figure out what it wanted me to do.

    Have to delete:

    iPlutoid: As an old school Defender fan, I want to like this, but I think it might be unplayable.
    Kill the Dragon: not good...neat ideas but not the level of polish I'm looking for
    Trainyard EX: Not bad, but not terribly interesting as far as puzzle games go.

    Tried a few more from the OP:

    Super Soviet Missile Mastar: A fun Atari 2600 style arcade game....from Behemoth!
    Chuck's Challenge: Interesting puzzles overcome by annoying characters.
    Tetra 3D: Probably will stay on the list, but I don't care for the user interface
    Pop Physics: Simply awesome. Keeper. Did somebody say this version was limited in some way?

    It seems like they cut and pasted that right out of the Save Toshi description, which says the exact same thing, because there is no "DX" version of Popstar Physics (Save Toshi 2).

    Confusing. :confused:

    Graduated some games to the top half of the OP: Popstar Physics (for now), Soviet Missile Mastar, Run Run Dash and Eco Punk (fun game). Also added Office Jerk, which somebody suggested several pages back. I could throw staplers and cupcakes at that dude all day. He's hilarious:

    Twenty-Three years before the horrifying events chronicled in "Solomon's Keep," the Wizard's college first suspected they might have a problem with one of their new graduates. A battle mage was dispatched to put an end to this young "Solomon Dark" before he could grow in power... * * * In Solomon's Boneyard, you can play as one of seven young wizards, with over thirty skills to master. The game is a survival two-thumb shooter, where you will face wave after wave of undead hordes, while gaining levels and choosing new skills to fight with. Near the town of Dead Hawg, past the Grimwood, at the very PEAK of Mount Awful, there stands a crumbling tower of mortar and stone. Deep within this foul edifice, the blackest necromancer of modern times, Solomon Dark, sits on his horrible throne. As a near graduate of the Wizarding College, your final exam is to storm Solomon's Keep. Dispatch the dark wizard, loot his evil possessions, unbind his horrific minions, and prove to your teachers once and for all that you're not as stupid as you look. ---- In Solomon's Keep, you move your wizard with one thumb, and fire magic spells with the other. As you destroy enemies, you earn experience points. Gain enough experience, and you'll gain a level, and can select new skills to help you ascend the tower. Along the way you'll find gold and magic items. Your helpful teachers are there to explain the ins and outs of wizarding, sell you a few useful items, and even give you a few tips to improve your skills. Along the way you'll encounter Solomon's skeletons, zombies, imps, and more. You might even encounter an undead king, and Solomon's meticulously reconstructed maggot vomiting skeletal dragon. You'll have a chance to master 21 skills and wield over 50 magic, rare, and epic weapons. With random dungeons and monsters, Solomon's Keep offers infinite replayability. It's never the same game twice! If you're fond of action RPGs, Solomon's Keep will satisfy your black heart.

    I think these go without explanation :) Personally, I find (the very popular) Solomon's Keep to be boring, but Solomon's Boneyard is just excellent.

    Also, these two have stayed on my iPod ever since I first downloaded them:
