Good call. I'm pretty happy with the list and can't add much more. I'd say unless you're like SV, who is apparently an encyclopedia of iOS games, everyone should probably just post the really great games that immediately come to mind. Might actually ask you to do something with the second post at some point.
Trying a bunch of stuff this morning: Rocketboy looks great but seems unplayable...or maybe just really hard Electro-Racer is great...reminds me of Wipeout...keeper Superboss is a great idea, but it doesn't seem to go anywhere...practically plays itself Samurai Dojo isn't terribly deep but is fun and looks amazing Juky Run just wasn't much fun Couldn't figure out Alchemy or Comet TD Chase the Dot was OK if you like that sort of thing Galaxy on Fire looked beautiful but is a 3D game with a virtual stick. I want to like this, but don't. Topsy Turvey...LOVE THIS GAME! Doodle Army 2 has all kinds of potential...controls just didn't come together for me
The main page is saying that dual stick shooter Ocurro is free forever. Also, I don't have an internet connection but I remember Mini Gore being free for a long time. I wonder if it still is.
The new version of Superblox is free forever too and is really, really good (better than tilt-to-live imho). It has optional IAP which there is no reason for unless your super impatient. You can also watch 15 second video ads if your impatient, and you must watch about a dozen or so of the 15 second ads to unlock the various level types. Takes literally around 5 minutes total, so I consider it a true free game. Ecopunk, posted above, deserves a try.
Rocketboy is indeed really difficult. Unless there's some trick to winning that I couldn't figure out. Maybe there's IAP that makes you not die as fast? I already deleted it. Doodle Army 2 takes some adjusting to. I got the controls down after a few matches and it's pretty fun. Haven't played it much since it launched, though.
Will add Occurro to the OP...good game. Had Superblox 2 on my iphone for a bit seemed OK...might be worth adding to the list, but I didn't keep it on my phone. I'm interested in hearing from others about the list in the OP. There are a few I didn't like despite liking the genre they are in, but I don't want to delete them unless others agree. Others are in genre's that I don't care about (dungeon crawlers and roguelikes), so I don't feel qualified to judge either way. The ideal end state would be a semi-definitive list of older stuff that everybody should at least try. In other news, I'm a big fan of A Quest of Knights Onrush. Chillingo made a little freebie to promote their castle defense game and made probably the best beat-em-up I've played on my phone. Really fun little game!
Not really sure what's been mentioned, but jet ball goes free a lot and I just downloaded it. It is a great one, and I will probably by anodia now becuause that seems like the best one in the genre.
