How do I set up a GTA list in itunes, I cannot figure it out? iTunes really isn't very user-friendly.
On the left hand side of the window (where you see Library, Store, Playlists, etc), click on the "+" sign at the button. You'll get an "Untitled" playlist. Click on "Untitled" and change the name to GTA. Then go ahead and drag songs, albums, etc. into it. You can order the songs manually, or sort them which ever way you want. Obviously, you have to sync your device before you can access the list within the game. @BulletGoose: No. You can listen to existing radio stations; they're just don't have that many songs (compared to other versions). Not sure about smart playlists, though my guess is that they would work fine.
Sorry bad wording, can you lsiten to your own stuff outside of cars? As just listen to your music throughout the game?
Posted the video on the front page- http://toucharcade.com/2010/01/20/grand-theft-auto-chinatown-wars-iphone-3gs-nintendo-ds-and-sony-psp-go-comparison/ Really, you can go crazy analyzing the three versions of the game but I don't think any of them are different enough to declare a true clear winner. The price of the iPhone version is pretty insane comparatively, but really, if you're a big DS or PSP gamer, you're used to spending $20-30 on games anyway-- And it's not like the $10-20 you're saving on the iPhone version is a ton of money outside of the 99¢ world of the App Store.
As in all GTA games, there's really no running soundtrack outside of cut-scenes -- all you hear are the sounds of the city.
Went against my better judgement last night and bought this. (My better judgement states "Don't waste money buying 'full sized proper games' especially those with on-screen D-pad buttons, because you never have time to play them and they control really badly") I have to say that so far I was definitely right to continue fearing on-screen D-pad style buttons. The driving is particularly bad, you have to keep looking down to see what buttons you're hitting, to make sure you're still hitting the Left and Right buttons. It's just a horrible compromise necessitated by the lack of any tactile feedback that you're touching one button or the other, but until Apple release some magical shape-shifting 'glass' screen that's never going to change I suppose. The game itself is fun, but mustering enough enthusiasm to overlook the deeply frustrating control scheme is proving hard. Also, the lack of jump-in/jump-out saving is crippling, making it not the sort of game you play in transit anywhere because saving always sends you back across the city to your safehouse. Mind you, this has been a 'feature' of every single GTA game ever made. Doesn't stop it being an absolutely rubbish feature, though. So, overall I'll persist but man alive I wish there was a better way of taking console controls and putting them on an iPhone.
I hope they add the slider control option for driving that CJS has. It works flawlessly - slide left to turn left and right to turn right.
It's called Settings, Look it up sometime... EDIT: Now that I finished my match of MW2 I can elaborate; in your PDA go to System>Settings> Scroll to analog driving and set it to ON. Voila
Seems to me that some people can deal with the lack of tactile feedback, and some can't. The assisted steering feature helps a lot here (in the same way that most PSP 3D shooters have generous aim assist to compensate for the lack of a second stick). But just as I can type very fast on the iPhone screen, I had no trouble memorizing the positions of the driving controls on this game (it did help that I spent a good 30 minutes just driving around the city to get used to the layout). Part of the issue is that I've always preferred PC (rather than console) gaming, which often requires you to memorize complicated keyboard layouts to play proficiently (keys have tactile feedback, but it's impossible to distinguish one from the other without looking). As to the lack of saves between missions, I have to agree without you -- though, as you point out, that's a problem on all GTA games (and most console games, for that matter).
I'm having a strange issue. Now and again when I launch this game I get a message on screen that says "headphones disconnected, game paused" which always means it will crash after a few minutes play. Is anyone else suffering from this?
Can someone explain to me what this blue/white sparkling wirlings are? Tried to run over but nothing happened, are they good for anything? Found a nice minigame, with this crazy car you can bring hot nudels to customers, very funny Fascinating detail of the developers developers! developers! developers! developers! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8To-6VIJZRE Nice sinken ship.. Near the promenade towards the liberty statue island is a construction site, I acutally drive on that to do crazy stunts on the area, found a minigame where you have to reach 29 points in 1 minute, besides there is a chainsaw collectable, one of my favourite weapons now The light effects in this game are clearly not there, lighting effects have to bring glowing to the graphics, here it clearly not glows, there is light just per "color" and not glow. But the graphics are still very good, as some said, textures and areas is better sharpen and clear to the iPhone, only benefit of the PSP are the lights. I have 2 questions: a) In the drug game, is the only way to earn money waiting for order emails? Or are on the map hidden buyers? I didn't find any, just sellers? b) How many molotov cocktails did you made in the mission when that possibility got promotoed in-mission? I made up to 12 Strange bug noticed? Before the mission where you have to get 3 recruits, I had 9.94 % progress, after completing the mission succesfully, saving 2 times after playing some minigames, I had then 7.76 %????
Nice finds Potter. I need to find the sword again. As for the blue swirlys, it doesn't matter till you beat the campaign.
Very well said! In the end controls are all about familirization and being open minded to change. I shun console fps cuz I am so used to the mouse and keyboard set up but when my pc broke down I was left with my 360 I was forced to learn the controls and I was pleasantly surprise that it was enjoyable too once you get the hang of it
I can't get the Flamethrower on the south west side of the map... got a truck, jumped over the cylinder, and threw a bomb behind my guy to make him jump but it just wasn't good enough. Can someone pricisely outline how to make the final jump? Should I use Grenades instead?
Play moar. You can't remember where five or so buttons are on a screen you're already looking directly at? How do you survive in this modern age? ...and dude, seriously. If you don't have time to play games you should know to avoid anything with GTA in the title. You'll be downloading WoW next.
Think the radio station was playing randomly from my iPod earlier. Wasn't playing the songs in the GTA playlist. That's a bug I can support.
