Maybe they couldn't guarantee or make sure that the performance of the game works consistently on 1st gen devices. From a sales perspective I couldn't see the reason for them to ignore the entire 1st gen market.
I don't think it's the entire 1st gen market, just the 1st gen iPod Touchs which are known to be slower, something like 10% than the 1st gen iPhone and iPhone 3G. Although seeing people are reporting good performance on the 1st gen Touch after hacking Chinatown Wars on it, perhaps speed isn't the issue. I guess here's hoping the 1st update will tighten the driving controls, add multiplayer, add pedestrian chatter, add 1st gen Touch support, and add something like Genius Mixes to have more musical variety. Maybe this is asking a bit much for a 1st update.
I like how, now that we've shown it runs on 1st gen fine, Hodapp's early comment about Crysis is now actually funny, though, probably not in the way he would have liked
I still want to know why the eMachine I found in the dumpster won't run Crysis if you find out please let me know.
Anyone know any cheats for this game that required button sequences on the other plaftforms I was looking at the stats in the menu and spotted one that says cheats entered but I'm not sure how they work
Thanks for the comparison video, Eli. I have to say, the only thing that seems "missing" from the iPhone version are the civilian voices -- and even after a few seconds they were already getting repetitive. The shadow and light detail on the PSP version is nice, but I truly dislike the horizontal banding on that GO screen: it makes the everything look murky and unfocused (it actually looks worse than my PSP 1000).
I think we should be able to have room for many things in our lives including a technical interest in games if that happens to be one of our interests.
Lol I'm lovin the zelda ds decals u got there although my nintendog ones were pretty hot back in the day edit: and ur computer problem make sure it's plugged into a power outlet that's wat always gets me....stupid electricity.....
Can you listen to your own music in this game? Being able to listen to my own music is make or break for me so before I ask is that possible or is there a work around that won't crash?
The iPhone port seems like it's from the DS, the PSP version was enhanced specially for the platform and actually it probably looks better on the PSP-1000 like squarezero said because of the horizontal banding and smaller screen.
Yes -- you need to set up a "GTA" playlist on iTunes, then choose the Independence radio station when you step into a car. The only limitation is that the songs play in the same order whenever you start up the game.
Will it work with a smart playlist? Also does that mean you can only listen to your own stuff in cars?
