If you were a huge gamer since Atari, you'd have known that LoZ is in and of itself pretty much Adventure on steroids. It is not a wholly "original" idea. And I agree that clones are usually not as good as the originals. That said, I have enjoyed non-clone indie games a lot more than I have games from the "big" studios on this platform. Hook Champ, Eliss, SPiN, DoddleJump, Bobby Carrot, Blue Attack!, Squareball, Spider:Bryce Manor, etc. all, IMHO, "fit" the platform better than many of the "big" games do. CTW is not much of an exception, IMHO. Although it's a great game, and, hands down, overall better than the clones thus far released on the device, let's face it...it's lacking in some areas. The port has the pedestrian voices removed. There's no multiplayer (both the DS and PSP versions have this, iirc). There's no 1st gen iPod touch support, even though the hardware fully supports the game (and, btw, if people are going to leave reviews on the app page laughing at others, in this case 1st "gen" users, they should first do just a little research so as not to look so goddamn dumb themselves). Oh, and the driving controls are NOT as optimal as they could be. Why? Because Rockstar, like so many devs, both indie and "big", didn't think "outside the box". What's worse, however, is that they didn't even try to implement control set ups that have been proved to work in the past (on screen virtual steering wheel or accelerometer control). While this may usher in the era of "big" games on iPhone/touch, and I fully hope we see some more, I sure as hell don't want this to be seen as an even keel alternative to PSP or DS...because it's NOT. Different market. And it should be treated as such.
Infinite Ammo MINIGUN!!!! and a bullet proof comet if lucky There is a glitch in which you can get a minigun with unlimited ammo! I got it, and it is AWESOME!!! Here is a detailed guide i made just for the Idevice version: link to my forum post about it
I stopped reading after this sentence. Why so serious? It isn´t just the brand name with GTA, the game itself (Chinatown Wars) is, despite some flaws, a pretty good game and i´m sure gamers which haven´t touched a GTA Game before will pick it up and like it aswell. It´s not for everyone, but no game suits every audience.
I absolutely love this game. Loads of fun, great graphics, and it's really brought something new to the app store
A slightly watered-down version of Vice City Stories? Yes please. It'd at least shut the mouths of the complainers that hate the top down camera.
Question: I have loads of money at the moment. What should I spent it on? Buying safehouses? Is there anything else that I can spend it on?
Possibly. I'm not a fan of the top down camera either, but the game is good enough so I don't pay attention to it.
Why Vice City Stories? I would much prefer a port of the original Vice City, that game was amazing. great music, time period, everything. I would actually like to see a top down version like this if the regular view isn't possible.
