Well..originally I just killed people for their guns, but since then the weapon cheats have been released so I've been doing that.

i actually agree with you on that one. Payback was the very first GTA clone on the iphone, and it wasn't bad for it's time, i mean it even had helicopters and boats. I hated CJS though, tried to love it but the controls sucked and the story was short and i hated the stupid graphics.

gangstar was good, except for that horrible slowdown glitch.

    GTA: CW rules them all.

and MichaelScott: how the hell do you think that GTA got brand name recognition? by starting as an indie dev and then making such a damn good game that they are now the brand name, something that CJS will never acheive i'm afraid.

EDIT: oh btw, is anyone else experiencing an audio glitch where the audio will randomly start stuttering??? it happens to me quite often, even after a restart.

There is a Zombie survival mode.
Well, the zombies have been replaced by crackheads/bums but it's still the same thing. I can't remember exactly where I played this side mission, but it was somewhere in a park. I'll let you know if I find it.

There is something like that. Go to charge island. It directly across from colony island. There is something called hobotron where you try to survive for as long as you can from guys trying to kill you. I only played the first few levels but i think they shoot if you get deep into the minigame.

If an indie dev wants recognition they have to make a good game. It isn't and in no way should be that being an indie dev in itself is enough.

I understand that you personally might not like certain aspects of GTA, but to turn round and call the highest rated mobile game of all time on all platforms "mediocre" is just silly. I'm not a big fan of FPS games, but I don't go around saying MW2 is rubbish, and point them in the direction of a content-light indie ripoff.

And I've played CJS, it is a clone, end of.

Looks like the indies finally found a game they can hate more that a gameloft game! I am itching to flame this Michael Scott character but a lot of you already beat me to it :(

Yep you were late to the party ;)

  11. If anything, this just raises the bar for indie developers. If there weren't well published games, we'd all still be playing tower defense games and dot-to-pop style games (not bashing dot-to-pop :D )

And this will separate the wheat from the grain! I respect and admire indie devs that work hard to be original and showed commitment to what they do, my hatetorade goes to the rest!

    I disagree completely.

Most indie games are crap. Even a lot of the best lack polish and depth -- they may do one thing well, but they aren't a fully realized game.

Out of the probably 120 or so games I've bought off the AppStore, the ones that feel most like fully realized games have generally come from the developers you dislike so much -- gameloft, ngmoco, and now Rockstar (handcircus and subatomic studios have been great as well -- I just don't know where they fall between indie and corporate.)

I personally would probably have lost interest in the AppStore for the most part once the novelty wore off if only indie developers where involved. And don't act like indie dev's are somehow more noble -- most are in it for the quick (at first seemingly easy) quick buck.

Just because you have a problem with big developers doesn't make it a fact that they are a bad thing.

GTA is a great game, a great addition to the AppStore, and a step in the right direction for fully realized iPhone games.

i agree with u nbm. there is nothing like the original. playing a super mario clone will never be the same. Legend of zelda clone will never be the same. If the indie wants to make a game. they should make it original and not some clone. im a huge gamer ever since atari. michael scott u can play the clones. I will wait till the actual game makers will release the games. Final Fantasy wont be the same if square enix doesnt make it.

i think im gonna delete this game soon...i have put 10 hours into the game...got 40% done, but now its getting reptetitive. now that i can get the tank without finishing the game, there is really nothing for me to work for. Overall this game was worth the $10 but after the story mode is finished and you have the thrill of going on a few rampages, the game begins to get repetitive...plus, the game takes up too much space for my 8g that im not going to keep it on just to look at it...maybe sometime later i will redownload it just to have the thrill of it again, but for now, im done with the game

i dont get the fanboyism to indie-devs in the app store platform

the whole "oh this game comes from an independent dev, lets support it guys!". Just because he joins the discussion in a thread promoting HIS game doesnt mean the game wouldnt suckk.

Sometimes theres multiple pages of praise for what a seemingly boring and superficial game, starting with the first posters going "OMG must get this!" and "wow nice screens, there goes my allowance for this month". But then looking at the game its just another doodle/stick figure side scroller. Like Doodle Army and 100 Nazi Scalps bullcrap. Not to mention copy cats like 'Are You Allright' and the likes. then theres pathetic junk like 'I am a Soldier of War'.

I'll be straight to the point. i dont support indie devs and i hate sucky copy cat games that exists just to 'be there' in the app store. I dont like indie dev fanboyism.

I like good games in the app store, and if it turns out an indie dev made it, i'll be very proud considering the effort and i support u. *Looks at ravensword and JCS* If not, and a big name makes it, im good.

U guys see devs, i see games. Lets bin all this indie loyalty bull and allow all the quality stuff in and all the crap out. i want to see the App Store go big and be respected!

gta san andreas was repeatitive. gta liberty city was repeativite. on gta san andreas there was a mission a gang territory mission where u own the turf i must of spent a week on that mission collecting the cash. but im getting tired of doing the drug runs. so once i hit 100 k buy all the safe homes im done. and will continue the story.
