Can anyone advice what to get first? Weapon first thn unit? Which unit is worth getting? And which weapon is worth getting first? Thanks
You need a unit to use a weapon, so just get units for now. Get units until you have spare cashl and then buy weapons. Try all the units! Until you get good healers, always take a good farmer to heal up.
I still get the problem where I want to play more but am struggling with my current level but then previous levels and the endless one I have don't give enough of a reward to bother with.
To solve the gold issue I'm finding that I can easily go to the first ruins with my pickpocket and just steal like 200 gold each round
There's also the gold finder upgrade, which effectively doubles the amount of gold you get when it's maxed out. I run Tomb of Necronon when I need gold. I get 300 a pop and can complete it in seconds with a Sharpshooter. It's also a great place to farm XP to easily star up your heroes.
For shear damage output go with the Sharpshooter and a weapon that increases attack. The skill Long Range is absolutely ridiculous.
I would go Black Knight. His 5th star skill is a passive that causes those around him to lose 1 health a second. He can also make skeleton warriors
Crossbowman can't use bows, but can use crossbows (duh) and guns. I whacked a +7 speed godly gun on mine and he shoots really fast.
I upgraded my sharpshooter to a sniper and so far I regret the decision and think the sharpshooter was better! Maybe it's part of the fun seeing what things do as you unlock and level them up but sometimes I wish you could see the abilities for each class before deciding which to promote to as sometimes you regret it. Also it's not always easy to remember what classes were in what upgrade tree for when you start with a fresh trainee.
You can 'unpromote' heroes. Just promote him to the previous level. You don't get gems back but it's free to switch to older classes and back again. Stars are retained. So the one hero can be both a 4 star sniper and 5 star sharpshooter. But I agree with the remembering class tree thing
You can go over 10, so each of the phalanxes would add more damage/defense! The more you play a level, the less experience/gold it gives you upon completion. Gold reduces by 30% each time (max of -90% gold), experience reduces by 10% each time (max of -50% XP). So spreading the levels you replay or going for stars you missed on other levels works better than replaying the last mission over and over. A full class tree is something we will most likely add in the near future, possibly for worldwide launch. You can always 'demote' back to a previous class if you don't like the promoted version, though of course then you won't be able to progress further in the tree. As someone else mentioned, I personally like to have a couple farmers around for apples and fertilizer until I get the better healing units!
For those that are interested, I created a full class map that you're all welcome to reference in the meantime. Adventure Company Class Map - http://goo.gl/QZEjHL Hope it's useful
So what's the thinking on the diminishing returns on maps? Makes it pointless to play any really after you get the stars, but it's making me hardly play the game as I get stuck then try a few times and get frustrated and quit and don't come back for a while as there's nothing else to do. It's like the game forces me to stop playing when I don't want to, even if I get stuck for a while there's not really anything I can do to get stronger to go back and beat it either.
It's worth replaying old maps for character experience (class stars), trophies, testing out new teams and for the small amount of money.
