    Hey everyone!

I'm going on Vacation next week and bought OffMaps off the Appstore and downloaded the maps i needed and everything works fine. However in the Offmaps FAQ it states that it could take quite a while for the GPS unit to get your position and they advice you to turn the data connection on in order to fasten things up. Now i would like to know whether the iPhone automatically uses cell tower triangulation when you accept that an app uses your position even when you turned off data roaming. Or will the iPhone just rely on the gps receiver if data roaming is off ?

    Thanks in advance!

There is no need to turn data roaming on. The FAQ may be alluding to SkyHook or whatever (pinging nearby wireless networks to ballpark your location.) Leaving wifi turned on may help though it will drain your battery quicker and, honestly, GPS alone works just fine for me. So wifi on or off is your choice; just don't turn data roaming on or you'll be sorry. ;)
