Does anyone know of a program that offers the option to download the book/comic/manga/etc to the iPhone for offline viewing? I have Stanza and E-Reader and they're great for books, but unfortunately doesn't have manga and the like.
    Thanks.

iComic is what I use. It has an option to view traditional left to right, and also right to left for manga. Best thing, is you can set the properties on a per folder basis, so your manga can be set to open right to left and your normal western comics left to right. Believe the app was .99 cents when i got it. If I knew how to set a link up to the app store I would, sorry :)

Pretty Decent reader, Has a great selection and it's free!

    I use http://appshopper.com/news/ienvision

It's a bit pricey but has some great features. I actually don't read manga, I bought iEnvision for the daily comics, but it has a really robust Manga collection from what I can see....

    Hope that helps...

[EDIT] - Just noticed you had said "Offline Viewing"... I don't think either of the apps I mentioned offer offline browsing...

There is a bit of setup involved with iComic, but its not terribly hard, and it does allow for offline viewing. I hadnt even noticed you wanted to view the comics offline. I have a touch, not a iphone, so I dont always have wifi accsess and I can browse my comics at my liesure.

Get Comiczeal. All you have to do is download any .cbr or .cbz file, and drag and drop in the free app that you download off of their website. Then go into the app on your phone, click sync on both apps (computer and iPhone) and let it go to work. It is awesome. Now i can take my comics to go.

I got MyComics, and it's working ok. Now comes the hard part; does anyone know any sites that actually has iPhone-compatible manga and e-books? I think they have to be in CBR or CBZ format. I searched for half an hour on google and returned with 0 results lol. So far all the apps are readers, but no sites actually have the books themselves.

I use comiczeal also, pretty good app once you set it up. It doesn't even take very much time at all. To answer the above poster's question about getting cbr and cbz files, I'm not sure exactly where. Since these are readers, and a lot of people download their comics illegally online, they know there is a niche market for that kind of thing. I'm sure there are legit sites out there that offer downloads. I just don't know any off the top of my head.

Note: I'm not promoting piracy I'm just giving my opinion. If you like it, buy it and support the studios.

It also does pdf. Here is a nice legal site to download comics from http://www.wowio.com/index.asp

If you do some searching you can find the Heroes comic which is free. CBR and CBZ are just renamed zip and rar files so if you see a web comic you like just copy all the pages to your harddrive and zip them up. Then rename them to cbr or cbz. Marvel and DC have many of their first issues for web viewing. Most free comics are going to be in web form or pdf. CBZ and CBR is mainly used for pirating or people that scan their own comics so you usually won't find legal sites using that format. The exception to this will people that go to free sites and convert the comics to cbz or cbr. I actually scan all of my heavy metal comics because of the adult content.

I use comiczeal but for my main comic reading I use my psp or ds. The DS has the best controls for viewing comics and the psp has the best screen and can read cbr and cbz without converting. Comiczeal didn't impress me much but was the best for the iphone at the time I was looking into this.

Icomic had a problem with some cbz and cbr files having picture that were to big for the iphone. It might have been fixed. I think it was more of software issue.

I haven't used Mycomics but I have not heard of any problems with cbz or cbr files being to big. Reading over the reviews it appears not to have the same problem as icomic. I will probably buy it since it also seems to have better controls than comiczeal or rather a control option that I like better than swiping and gestures but also includes swiping and gestures for people that want that.
