also, most apps dont even become famous or popular until after a few weeks. Zombieville wasnt very popular when it first came out, only people on here had it, but when enough people pushed it into the top 50 it rocketed to the top.
With all due respect TwoTribes, I know you make good games and all, but I think more people are interested in buying and playing the game ASAP than staring at a bunch of yummy oversized Easter peeps (oh yeah...I mean Toki Tori figurines). I'm still following the game, and I haven't noticed any promotions going on other than "win a Toki Tori figurine" or read a story about how Toki Tori is 10 mb. Cool... Great... Sure Can we just play the game now? P.S. What's the deal with the Toki Tori Easter peeps? How many kids under 10 do you think have an iphone?
Let's not be so harsh to Two Tribes. Give it a rest, guys. It's their game, they can do what they want with it. I do agree with most of the points on here, but you guys are starting to sound selfish. Maybe by 'promo-time' they sent out final version to review sites for them to review it. Surely their promo-time isn't fully consisted of just making Toki Tori snacks and stories about how they got it under 10 mb. If it is, then... well... I dunno that'd be a bit of a waste for them because that's time they could've made sales with.
Hi guys! I've been lurking for the last few days, and wanted to give you a little insight into how this all works. Perhaps you'll be able to better understand our actions after reading it. We try to be open, but we cannot communicate everything that's going on. So even though you've only seen some blog entries about the figurines and such, you're not aware of everything that's happening behind the scenes to launch Toki Tori properly. There is a whole team of people working hard to ensure that everything is in place once the game launches. These things are interconnected, even with the game itself, so it's a bit more complicated than just putting the game on the AppStore. A clear example would be tokitori.com. We actively encourage players from within the game to visit the website if they are in need of hints or tips, which we feel is a cool service to be able to offer to our customers. If you look at the website now, you'll see it is completely Wii-oriented, with not a single mention of the iPhone version. Should we make Toki Tori available now, there are going to be a lot of confused people who will be sent to a Wii site while playing an iPhone game. There are lots of things like this, some of which we can't share due to NDA's and such, that factor in when making decisions. Rest assured that we are doing the best we can and next friday is a solid date at which you will be able to play Toki Tori. Thanks for your time! Collin
A Toki Tori contest has just been launched: http://www.chillingo.com/?node=competition Win iTunes card and figurines. Unsurprisingly, the contests asks you to essentially promote the game by any means possible (namely, on public websites such as myspace, facebook etc).
Ouch that's a long time away! I thought it would last a week or so and end close to the time Toki Tori came out. Oh well.
Hi all! Just a quick message here. We released some screenshots of the final game. You can see the last refinements we've made to the user interface. They can be seen here: http://www.razorianfly.com/2009/preview-toki-tori/ Thanks for your time! Collin
http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=314388744&mt=8 It's out in Australia. Not long to wait now!
Isn't it the 22nd in AU right now though? I believe the earliest time there is 1 AM, so I'm assuming then it'll come out before 1 AM here on the 22nd, which is good news
Should come out at around midnight.... I think in the Netherlands (where Two Tribes is) our night is their morning.
