Not at all. Sites get their promotional codes upon the game's release. Though this means we might get 1-2 hours headstart from the other consumers, it doesn't mean that we get to hype the game up before Two Tribes releases the game. Most sites have already received Toki Tori's preview build and written a preview on it. I think as far as hype goes that's where Two Tribes will get it from. Sites "try it out" via preview builds. We don't receive the promo codes and the full retail game until its actually been released onto the App Store.

Hmm I wonder what's going on then... I came home expecting to download the recently approved game today and instead all I got to see about toki tori was an article about how they kept it under 10 mb and a statement that they will announce a release date soon. Yay I think at this point I'd rather be playing the game then reading stories about it the size of it.

Best not to wait for it too much; it'll be a longer wait if you do ;)

thats not correct, at the site I work at, we get codes frequently this way. 2 codes we have gotten this way off the top of my head recently are IPSX, Rasta Monkey. codes can be generated and redeemed once the app has been approved which toki has. This way provides and easier way then dealing with provisional files. it's also the way I have released my two applications. It's fairly common. but think whatever you want to think. you are correct that provies are much more common, however when a game wants to build press that has already been releasedm this is a way they do it.

Well I stand corrected. I'm not the type to rebut and "think whatever I want to think" if I've been corrected. Unless I haven't been notified by my co-editors, we haven't received any promotional codes for Toki Tori just yet.

    Hi guys,

Time to announce the release date: Toki Tori will be released on Friday the 29th of May 2009!

We need the additional time to setup some promotional actions (more details on that will be announced on Twitter (www.twitter.com/TwoTribesGames) and on our website soon). If you need any more info from us, just ask away! ;-)

    Cheers,

    Martijn

Not trying to be rude here but the 29th May! I personally like game devs being active and I appreciate that you keep us informed. I think many people will be disapppointed/angry because this game was so hyped.

That's still a while away, I guess you guys do need to get your marketing/promotional things together before you release the game.

Hi Martijn, welcome to TA :)

Will there be an intro price for Toki Tori? even for the first 24-hour please?

Thanks for your concern and interest in Toki Tori ;-) Allow me to elaborate on this. Since the iPhone market is flooded with new releases every day, it is important for us to be able to properly support the title when it has been released. So we are currently doing just that, making sure the launch is backed up my a little marketing and that our new Toki Tori website is online.

We made the same mistake with WiiWare as well; we soft launched it and expected the title to sell itself. We were wrong... So we obviously don't want to make that same mistake again and now allow for some time to properly promote the game. Get it under the attention of people out there etc.

    Hope this makes any sense?

Thanks for answering my question. Is that the intro price or just normal price?

Also, has the game been approved and all it needs is green light from Two Tribes themselves? are is it still in review?

4.99 will be the price when it hits the AppStore. The game indeed has been approved by Apple and we now need some promo time (see our other post).

    Cheers

Gosh... May 29th. Who cares, this game looks wonderful! Can't wait, glad you know what you're doing with the marketing and everything (even though there's so much hype right now). I'm buying this game right when it enters the App Store, looks like a gem :)

I think more devs would do themselves a favor by marketing their games more than they have, and in Toki Tori's case, they're doing it right in delaying the game a bit to do that. Look forward to seeing this.

A delay like this is fine with me, I want you guys to do well for creating such a great game. But please don't delay it like NFS did! :p

Should I get this game if I already have it on the GBC and wiiware? Is it going to be exactly like the wiiware version or is new stuff going to be included.

Wow I'm disappointed in the further delayed release date, but remembering that the sales were not be as good as they shouldve been for the gbc or wii, maybe more marketing wouldve helped. Two Tribes is learning from the past...yeah I get it, but the delay has been going on forever already I wanna play this game now :(:(:rolleyes: oh well... I still think the game couldve been released and strongly promoted at the same time, I don't think two tribes has tried that yet either.

    Hi all!

It's great to see so much anticipation for Toki Tori. I'm also really happy about people's understanding for our actions. I can tell you we are VERY anxious to see what people's reactions will be to the game. We have put a lot of time and effort into making sure it does the iPhone justice.

One of our promotional activities has just been revealed btw :)

    Thanks for the support guys!

Those sure look tasty, but I wouldn't call it much of a promotion of your game...
The same people who didn't know about the game, still won't.
I'm sad the game was delayed 20 more days, especially anticipating the "hatching soon" I'vee been seeing since February. I sure hope this pays off for you guys and the hype-machines doesn't produce negative results like it did for CJS.
