Spiffyone, these are good ideas. We will experiment with the controls of movement in the main world. Certain things may be less accurate without a d-pad, but we will definitely look into it. If it helps ease your mind, there is no D-Pad in the actual battles. I am currently working on designing the battle screens right now, but here's a picture of what I'm moving towards. Where there are 4 buttons on the right side of the screen that slide open to reveal a menu, when needed.
Please? I really want to beta test! I would even give a pre-release review and free advertising on my site!
This. Game looks decent. A lot of the textures don't really match, however. I'd recommend a more cartoon-esque direction for the grass/trees.
Alright, some votes against tap on spot to move controls. But swipe controls hasn't had any negative votes. I really just don't like the idea of an onscreen dpad as the only setting. As an option is fine, but I'd rather an uncluttered screen. Check out the swipe/hold method used in Bobby Carrot and Mouse House as I think those games control very well without a lot of clutter onscreen.
That's cool. It'd be great if you could allow the user to change the opacity of the submenus though. Unless they don't obscure anything onscreen during the battles. Actually...those buttons for the battle screen might be better served on the bottom of the screen (if the game is in landscape mode). Think along the lines of the dock on a Mac on the bottom. It'd give you more screen real estate, I think, so as to have a better view of the turn based battles. ... I'm actually really looking forward to this game. I forgot how much of a Pokemon fan I was when Red/Blue came out. I didn't think I would be, but that damned game was quite addictive.
I've thought up something interesting for the controls and am hoping I will be able to code it. You may find it absurd or you may love it. As far as the game is going, almost all of the core is finished. Basically, All I really have left to do is test the battle system, create story, create game world, and add sound. Then comes beta testing! WOOT! I'm expecting beta testing near late October, I hope.
glad to hear your close to getting a build...back then I somehow expected it to come out next year... also if it isn't too much to ask, I would love it if you put me on your list of considerations
wow... so far it's really good i like the graphics cause they look similar to the Pokémon Games but not copied well thinking of a story won't be so easy don't make it too complex... but still the story was an important part of pokemon so i really hope you find the balance i'm already waiting for the game if you need a beta tester... here i am (but i think you have enough choice ) cool ideas!
Wow, this really looks awesome. I see a great potential in this game. Would love to hear some news about the creatures.
The Safari Zone! One of my favorite parts of the game was the Safari Zone! You definitely have to put that in there, but change it up a bit. Call it something like the Jungle of Mystery! That would be so cool!
Hey man. If you want me to betatest, I'm in! I'm going to get my 3GS tomorrow, and I never Beta-tested before (I got a 3g before), but I'm totally addicted to Pokemon. I had every SINGLE Pokemon game, from yellow to pearl. I played each one for about 200-600 hours, so I'm a pretty good hardcore-gamer if you ask me.. That's it, should I PM you about it?
Hey guys. So, about beta testing. We are not ready to beta test yet, and I am glad you guys are all excited to try it out and play the game. But for now, it'd be easier if you didn't PM us or ask us to beta test just yet. When we are ready, we will put out a call for beta testers and I'll keep in mind those of you that have asked early as well as those with some beta testing experience.
Hey bob since your online now, can you show what the whole interface is when having a fight or is that still in the works
I loved pokemon when I was younger, and am hoping that you do a great job. I am also looking forward to when the beta test stage opens.
