Watch people beg for the DLC to be "a lil bit cheaper".

i wonder how rolando 2 chp 1 got approved before this, seeing as they probly only put it together AFTER the free with DLC was announced, whereas eliminate was submitted a week before...

This is a really bad imho, ngmoco could easily charge 2.99 for the game and hope too reach a bigger public with a low price.

I think that a lot of people will download the game just for the reason that its free, a lot of those people don't have any interist in in app purchases.

But when you asked a 2.99 price there already will be a X amount of earnings coming from the game, maybe less( "legal" )downloads but far more players who are really interested in the game and don't just DL it because its free.

Ngmoco knew about this new option well in advance. They are in the good books of apple :D

Most likely. That would explain why they waited to announce the price after Apple announced their part.

Actually won't this option prevent piracy? If someone sells a free app that allows you to buy DLC(The game content) even if someone cracks it, they still have to pay for DLC if they want to play it. Does that work? It'll be something like Tyrian except the game is free and they have to pay for the d/l. I'm not referring to this game, btw.

It will, definitely. Also, the way DLC is registered from Apple works differently than the way Apps are, and apparently leaves more of a paper trail that the developers have access to. This makes it easy to verify who isn't a legit customer.

I've heard that ngmoco is dying for this game to get into the AppStore and apple is the only thing left stopping it. It needs to get approved.

I kind of agree. It is FTW that Eliminate will be free, but it's a bad business structure for ngmoco.

Question about the credits/no credits thingy: Ok, so I want credits, but I dont want to pay money for the energy thingy. If I run out of energy, can I still switch over into playing without credits, and then when my energy is charged, start playing for credits?

And another question, How long will the energy last?

Energy lasts about 4 rounds, and the game will automatically switch to using energy as soon as it can at the start of any given round.

That would be very clever and Apple-style. Since the weekend would offer enough free time to get used to...

I doubt NGMOCO will do that! It's their chance to EXPLODE their marketshare. There will be no other game on any device and there will be no other social network having more members then plus+. And you can quote me on this one too :)
Even if they don't make billions on DLC/Energy it's a sort of a game that most people in possession of an iDevice will own. All they really want from this game is to get people addicted to it. It's the same for TouchPets same story. You get addicted and don't download for weeks/months but return to the game. After that that should be your daily routine. Everytime a new ngmoco game comes out 10 mio of users will see the commercial. You will at least see the new games in the Plus+ network...so there's actually no need for any banner if you ask me.... Every new game will get the Top 25 charts WITHIN DAYS and STAY there for a long time. WITHOUT HAVING NGMOCO even pay a DIME!!!!!!! Now there is NO GREATER FIRST MOVER ADVANTAGE than that. Other companies need to spend money on promoting their apps ngmoco will promote theirs through Plus+ and their in app banners that will be seen by the widest audience that one can imagine...

    - Eliminate is their chance to make Plus+ the largest network and have an edge over others. Imagine how many new developers will jump on this train. (At least 50 in the next months and probably thousands after that).
    - it's their chance to show what they are capable of
    - it will show, that the iPhone is a serious gaming platform and inspire thousands of new and existing game developers to get in
    - it an iPhone exclusive game so Apple will be happy too...
    - most people will know ngmoco months after their release for making great games and being fair.
    - even if they don't bank on this game...they have created market value since it's Plus+ network and banner network is new Doubleclick of the iPhone...
