Well since I was originally planning on paying around $5 on the game and then butin an energy or two I guess I'll just buy 5 energy packs

That would be great if they did! I don't know if there are plans for this type of thing yet, but we're definitely not alone in wanting a single player mode...

QFT... Good things are never free... I'm worried now... This is a big gamble... They made the game free so a lot of people will get it, but only about half (that's being generous) will buy energy packs... How will Ngmoco be able to keep the servers running lag free? They could make it so the energy packs are pointless unless you buy them in bulk, but that will still present a huge problem... I forsee a Subscription system if this fails... That, or severe lag...

okay wow ngmoco definetly knew about in app purchases for free apps before apple announced them. I just checked them on itunes and they had rolando 2 for free with in app purchases. Looks like they got the inside scoop before everyone else....maybe weeks before in fact. edit:looks like they removed it tho. I was downloading it and then it became unavailable.
Oh hellz yes! FREE! I was worried about having to wait for this game until I could get some more cash, but all my worries are gone!
This game HAS to come out within the next couple of days. From a marketing standpoint, there is no way to generate more prerelease hype then to announce that this unbelievable, highly anticipated game will be free. If there is any perfect time to release, it is within the next few days.
