@qasim It's Cocoto Kart, not Coconut Kart. :p

My take on the pricing is that the genres do matter. For example, I'm sure kart racing tracks don't take nearly as long to program as maps in an FPS. There's tons of things you can do in an FPS, but in a Kart racer, it's just racing.
With all the upgrades Eliminate offers, it would still be an amazing deal at $6.99, but I agree that it should be priced at $2.99-$4.99 because of the limited energy. I bet it's not even as bad as you think, you can probably buy 10 full energy recharges for $.99.

Ahh, sorry if I misunderstood you. The good news is, ngmoco definitely understands that. Founder Neil Young made it a point to say that it would be priced "REALLY competitively". You can take that to mean what you will, but I doubt you're going to see this priced at over 5 dollars.

I've actually grown to like this pay-what-you-want model. I don't mind spending more money on a great game, so I'll be more than happy to buy an energy pack if I run out and still like playing. I think launching the game cheap and having people pay more if and when they want to is a great idea.

Exactly. Content is content. No matter what genre.

If you played the game, you'd know that the graphics were above average. I guess I can't compare Cocoto Kart with NFS, because Cocoto Kart is an online game. NFS is not. I guess Cocoto Kart is a little underpriced, but it's made that way so it can gather a lot of players for online play. Since Eliminate will need a LOT more people online than other online games, because of the matchmaking system.

By the way, have you compared Need For Speed Undercover's graphics with Cocunut Kart? Let's take a look, shall we?

    Cocunut Kart: [IMG]

    NFS: [IMG][/QUOTE]

I wonder why they were priced differently.. Better graphics. They both have great controls and good gameplay, but look at the graphics. Besides, i don't see why we are comparing these two. Again, different genres!

Dude, the graphics in Cocoto Kart when I play it on my device look a lot better than that. Have you considered that NFS:U was sold for a higher price because EA knew they could sell it at that high of a price?

It shouldn't necessarily be cheap because of the content, but it should be cheap because it's an online game. If you still don't understand, it's like this. When it comes to an online game, it matters more how many people play it. NgMoco could possibly make more money at a higher price, but the game will suffer a little bit more than it would at a lower price, due to the population. It would suffer in a way that most of the games you listed up there would not. Community has no matter in an offline game.

Eliminate might actually be successful at $6.99, but would be more successful at a lower price. A prime example is SGN's FAST game.

Ahh thanks for clarifying that. Lol..

I don't think it matters that you can buy energy to get credits once your energy meter is empty. You can still play the game without energy, you just don't get credits to improve your attributes. And you can also complete little offers to get an energy refill. You don't have to buy it before 90 minutes.

I'm still up for a price of $6.99-$9.99.

They worked really hard on this game. They even added RPG elements.

I knew NgMoco would understand. They're a great company.

I feel the same way. But to be honest, I'm not that much of a hardcore gamer, so I'm ok playing without being able to earn credits. However, I would love to buy any expansions that come by.

The pay what you want model is what I mean. I'm glad that NgMoco is pricing it competitively, because the more people buying and playing the game, the more player there are to buy expansions, energy, and other DLC. The more people buying DLC, the more money and win for NgMoco, as well as more popularity. Which also means more people to play with and more win for us players. Competitively pricing the game like this can generate a situation where everybody wins.

You're not understanding what I'm trying to say. But, in a way, you're right.

Actually, I've played the game before. I don't see why they'd water down the screenshots.... The graphics look the same on my device and on the computer. Yeah, that's true. That's probably why it's only a buck. But iFPS online was like 3 bucks, and not many people bought it.

I understand what you're trying to say. It's not like people won't buy this game for a pretty high price. $6.99-$9.99. Again, people bought Rolando, people bought Madden, FIFA, Modern Combat. And that's A LOT of people who bought it. I kind of agree. I wouldn't want them to take a risk and sell it high while making no sales. Maybe they should start out low as an introductory price..

Many people bought FAST for $5, unfortunately, including me. I don't like that game.. lol.. Yeah, I see what you're saying here. I just hope ngmoco makes lots of money from Eliminate. They definitely deserve it after all the time and effor they put in (including all the marketing and stuff..)

So, they should start out at about $3, and go up to $7? Does that sound fair?

Plus ngmoco knows that people will much much much much more willing to pay for more energy if they think they got a steal on the actual game.

Btw is it true that online games don't work as cracked apps, I hope so

There are a lot of protections put in place in this game. You never know, but lets hope it works.

Yeah. I'd be really pissed if people got this illegally and for free. It would really hurt their sales. I hope it doesn't get cracked!

I think we're just missing now. That's how most of my arguments online go. Misunderstandings that eventually lead to truce. And I think it's more less truce time. Sorry if I came off a little hard.

I believe it's watered down from the resolution of screens on the computer, as well as NFS. I still think that the graphics are really good for that game, though. If you think those graphics are average and that the computer screenshots look the same as the game on device, then you probably won't be too pleased with Eliminate's graphics, although I will. And as I said before, that's not why it's only a buck. It's because Eurocenter wants a lot of people to buy it for a lot of people to be online. They know, and so does NgMoco, that competitive pricing for online iphone games is FTW.

Rolando was quite a success, but I believe the EA games and Gameloft games were more popular because they were from EA and Gameloft.
People like you I don't care that much about famous devs, but for some people, it makes or breaks the game. Mass Effect Galaxies was actually very disappointing, but still sold very well, being an EA game. I'm not sure NgMoco could sell a game like that as well as EA did.

FAST definitely got worse after the update, and I don't find myself playing the game at all. I bought it for $1.99.

I hope they make a lot of money too. I believe this game will be a success in sales no matter what, but with the DLC they plan to put into it, they would probably make more money in the long run with a low price for the initial game.

Haha, no no. Don't be sorry! It's all good :)

No no.. that's what i was trying to say. I was saying that what you were saying was true, and its $1 because of what you were saying.

Really? Mass Effect Galaxy sold good? I thought it didn't even make it in the top 100.. There are a lot of games that sold really good that aren't from a popular developer. Spider, Moto Chaser (originally for $9.99).. And I don't think gameloft was popular when Hero of Sparta or Brothers in Arms came out. I think if the game gets enough publicity, and its really good, it'll make good money. Even Crash Bandicoot made good money, for $9.99. 2XL, INC wasn't soo popular as well. So, I don't think it's just those famous developers/publishers that make good money, it depends on the game...

Gameloft were popular since the dawn of world lol. They were always the best game makers for mobile phones. iPhone just gave them another boost.

Andrew Podolsky also knows his shit, and I suggest listening to our podcast because he specifically says ngmoco has not settled on a final recharge time just yet.

Apple provides no real protection from apps being cracked or cracked apps playing online. Ngmoco would have to implement protection measures themselves.

So do you think they lied to Hodapp or he never even went there to play the game? When was that podcast made?
