Tim. Eli Hodapp knows his shit. And he was probably there for more than an hour. I'm sure Chris told him everything he needed to know.
I'm pretty sure you can. I know some devs are allowed to release the app themselves, after it's already been approved. Ezone did it with Galactic Gunner. You would know, wouldn't you Bat?
Any dev can hold an app AFTER it is approved. But it still has to go through the approval system. So no you can't plan a release date unless you submit it like 5 weeks ahead of time
ngmoco could hold off the release until a specified date if they wanted to, but I think they're just as anxious as we are to see this game in the store.
No, we're reasonably sure it has not been submitted yet. Last I checked they were testing the first release candidate.
I'm sure you'll know, everyone will be talking about it You can follow them on Twitter if you want, they have been updating frequently about the status
Well, looks like I deleted it before the update! You're kidding, right? A kart racing game is COMPLETELY different from a first person shooter. You can't compare guns with little bananas. I completely disagree with you. I still think it should be at least $6.99. I want ngmoco to get money out of this one. (I would buy it, but I'm getting a promo code to review. But if I wasnt, I definitely would've bought it for any price they asked for. I'm going to buy energy just to support them, not because I want it.) What do you mean "pay for batteries?" There are lot of games of the crime genre. There's Gangstar, Car Jack Streets, and even Payback. I know there are some games of the FPS genre, but they are unsuccessful. There's Hill Billy, Modern Combat. However, Hill Bill fails in every aspect. Modern Combat, like I said before, is with terrorists and all that stuff. There is no game with an online deathmatch where you can go on a killing streak. This is the first of its genre (w/ the exception of iFPS online, which was barely playable.) I am just very excited of this game, and I have a really good feeling about it.
pay for batteries = pay for energy. I wasn't even saying that they were the same genre. What matters in this case is the quality of the two games. You can't say that Eliminate should cost more than Cocoto Kart because "You can't compare guns with little bananas". When has the genre ever mattered for price in any gaming situation, besides mini games vs. console games? To show how wrong your logic is, I'll say this: Crash Bandicoot Tag Team Racing for the PSP is a kart game. Resistance Retribution for the PSP is a shooting game. Because of the genres, Tag Team Racing is much cheaper, right? Wrong! NFS Shift will most likely be $9.99 when it hits the appstore. So was NFS:U when it came out. Krazy Kart is $7.99. So since they are that price, and "You can't compare guns with little bananas" then that means that Eliminate should be priced around $14.99, right? In other words, one game SHOULD NOT be more expensive than the other because they are different genres. Especially not if the game that you say should be cheaper has more content. Content is content, no matter what genre. They bare a similarity in the fact that they are 3D online games for the iPhone. It's a very unpaved surface so far on the iDevice since there are so few of them. Eurocenter has been making online games for the iPhone for a long time (of MANY different genres) for cheap prices, because they know that the cheaper it is, the more people can buy it and fill the servers. I seriously think NgMoco should follow Eurocenter's example on this one. Hey, me too. I'm actually beginning to lose patience.
Ngmoco is going to be releasing this game at a very low price. They emphasized that many times during the community day and in subsequent posts. They're launching the game cheap and allowing people to play as much or as little as they want online for nothing more than the initial cost of the app. If you want to play online and earn credits (which are completely unnecessary to playing the game), you'll still be able to do that for about 5 rounds every 90 minutes. If you want to earn credits faster than that, they ask you to pay a small fee. This helps offset the cost of running the servers. I don't really understand what the big deal is. You can still play the game as much as you want, for 24 hours straight even, without paying a dime. The ability to earn energy is the only thing you pay for.
I never said it should be more expensive because they are different genres. You said it should not be at a high price because Coconut Kart has more weapons and maps. How can you compare online Call of Duty with online Mario Kart? I don't think Mario Kart has a P-90 or an AK 47. I don't think Call of Duty let's you drop bananas and throw little bombs. Making an AK 47 and adding attributes to it is much more difficult then shooting out little bombs. When you gave that "logic" of yours, you're wrong. Console games have a starting point of mostly $59.99 (depending on the console.) App Store games are a LOT different. The starting point is never constant. It's not like every game starts out at $9.99. That's why those games are priced the same. I said Eliminate should be at least $6.99. I never said anything about $15.. And you still can't compare Need For Speed with the Coconut Kart game. To be honest with you, I believe Krazy Kart is overpriced, and Coconut Kart is underpriced. I think a good price point for these Kart games, especially with average graphics should be $3-$4. I never said it should be more expensive because they are different genres. You said it should not be at a high price because Coconut Kart has more weapons and maps. By the way, have you compared Need For Speed Undercover's graphics with Cocunut Kart? Let's take a look, shall we? Cocunut Kart: NFS: I wonder why they were priced differently.. Better graphics. They both have great controls and good gameplay, but look at the graphics. Besides, i don't see why we are comparing these two. Again, different genres! Have you also taken a chance to compare the graphics of Eliminate and Cocunut Kart? Cocunut Kart: Eliminate (This is at an early stage, so they can improve at release): A difference? Especially one in the genre. Again, you can't compare these two games because they are different genres! You said it should be cheap because Coconut Kart has more maps and weapons.. That's not true; it shouldn't be cheap because of that. I still think a good price is $6.99. Haven't you seen the success of soooooo many games at high prices? Modern Combat Sandstorm, made it in the top 50 apps in a day. Same with NFS. The Sims 3 made it in less then a day. Same with Super Monkey Ball. What about Madden? What about Dungeon Hunter, Or RS10?
Ahh. That's good. That way, there will be more players that way. You misunderstood me. I said that if NgMoco wants us to buy their energy and expansions, the initial game shouldn't be that high in price. But it looks like NgMoco knows what they are doing.
