Oh Modern Combat controls are definitely solid on the iPhone. I was talking about on the PSP, which is what the original post mentioned. There isn't a conspiracy here, you just missed the point.
Until the server started to get really crappy, or maybe that could just be one of my friend's router's problem. It was just really annoying I couldn't do a proper headshot.
It's the same scheme that eliminate will use with the additionthe auto fire scheme! Honestly i'm passing this if they didn't use what is now known as the mc:s control scheme! Truth be told i think this will be an awesome game but give credit where credit is due! Fanboism is a turn off and lessens credibility!
...When they work. I've had to reinstall the game twice on my 3GS and once on my 3G because the controls stopped responding to user input, even after multiple restarts.
It sounded quite different from my perspective and you only mentioned the psp. Controls for NDS FPS like metroid is only second to the mouse and keyboard when it comes to playability!
Actually, they're based on the same controls as in Dropship, which was the first dual-stick shooter on the iPhone. So yeah, give credit where credit is due. Namely, with Dropship.
Ehh.. auto-fire would probably be useful for rapid firing guns. Assuming the controls for firing and aiming will be the same once it comes out, I don't think it will be effective to drag your finger and tap a few and drag slightly and tap a few and so on. Auto-fire would definitely be terrible for the rocket launcher and the sniper gun though.
Well I don't have a DS, so I can't speak for it. I do know that the idea of using a stylus, buttons, and d-pad at the same time to control a game seems like an absolute nightmare. Anways, we're getting way off-topic here. Lets just agree that they're all lagging behind the mouse-keyboard set up and move on
Modern combat had some very smooth and fast-responding controls, however the placement of the controls i believe wasn't really thought about thouroghly. Sometimes when I want to move or something, I fire instead. And the constant dragging of the finger also got in the way of the joystick, so it was basically impossible to look around and shoot at the same time. Alright enough off topic discussions... Lol.
I didn't know you can swipe to look in dropship? Dude it's a dual stick shooter not an fps, not even an tps! I know how excited you are, i am too but i don't want to open this thread next time and hear you declare ngmoco invented fps alright let's move on!
You swipe along the right side of the screen to change direction and change what you're aiming at, the exact same as you would in MCS, Eliminate, Minigore, or anything else. The only difference is that "looking" is done from a different perspective. When you actually think about it. they're all doing basically the same thing.
Everyone read too much in to the fact that they changed the title of this thread so that it no longer said "Coming soon!"
I'm going to look back on this and laugh as we play eliminate eventually in the future. Although I will miss it. Anticipitating is sort of fun.
Dual stick controls has been around since time i can't remember and dropship or mc:s has nothing to do with it! Mc:s is the first fps to use the scheme in the genre! Anyway enough, i don't want to step on your parade
It seems like it would be, and thats what I thought before I got the game. However, the controls were flawless
