So Hodapp is going to be super powerful and ready to kick all our asses before we can even get our paws on the game. Well that's just great . (Can you reset his profile/stats? ;))

I think it's all internal. I tried searching for those user names on the plus+ network and couldn't find them. Pretty sure everyone will start on the same page.

This was also set up with only about 10 people in the world playing on the servers. When this game goes live, we hope for hundreds to thousands of users looking for matches.

In that scenario, Hodapp will be matched with 3 other players with skill level 150 (or as close as possible) and neil would be matched with 3 other players with skill level near 66.

Edit: and it's all about skill, not level. As you can see, Neil and Haggis in an ideal scenario wouldn't be matched together, even though they are both level one.

This means that a user who spends all his credits right away to buy the best gear, can be pitted against a penny pincher who is just more skilled at the game.

    Hey Allen,

Do you know an estimate time of how long it takes to revise your games (i.e Eliminate)?

    Just curious.

    Thanks

I must say, this game looks very impressive. I honestly cannot wait for this game to come out. The graphics look superb, according to every preview the controls are perfect, and the gameplay seems to be fantastic. The iPhone has only one true and good first person shooter and that FPS is Modern Combat. I prefer a Halo type FPS; with the robots and stuff. Not like terrorists, more like sci-fi and stuff.

But seriously, this game looks like it’ll be the first true FPS. Even though there’s no story mode, it doesn’t matter. I love the fact that there’s an online death match. It’s gonna be fun to the max! Even if you are unbale to go online, there’s the offline practice mode with the bots. iFPS online is kind of like this, only with terrible controls, below average graphics, and almost no replay value (there was hardly anyone online!)

This is better, and I expect over hundreds of players online 24/7. A lot of people will buy this game. I’m really happy with what Ngmoco’s doing. Thanks guys. It really shows there are quality developers with a lot of skill who add polish and replay value to games on the app store.

Eliminate really does bring iPhone gaming to the next level. :)

I also love the fact that they included RPG elements into this. You can upgrade your character's armor/suit, there's a variety of fantastic weapons that you can upgrade, and there are many skins to choose from.

It's better then just an average shooter. The credits idea is great too. You get credits and you upgrade your items. I'm sure a lot of people prefer this over buying weapons.

And I absolutely understand their situation with the whole energy controversy. A lot of people were getting upset with having to buy energy to earn more credits. It's okay. It's a smart move to support the servers. Playing 3 or 4 death matches and then earning credits to upgrade items is a really good idea. And it recharges in just 90 minutes! In that time you can still play death matches, but you just don't earn credits! If you can't wait, you can just buy energy. It's really cool.

I really love what they are doing with this game. They are making really good decisions, from the whole RPG elements to the energy idea.

ngmoco is one of the greatest devs on the iPhone, and this app will really help them financially and popularity.

    :)

I honestly thought that the game Cube was one of the best FPSs. Really big game, fun once you get use to the controls, and just awesome all around. I haven't played Modern Combat yet, but I do say I'd prefer that over a sci-fi. I just hope the wifi multiplayer will be good and have online deathmatches like this one (maybe ever CTF and other modes). I'd definitely get it then. Hey, why have one online FPS when you can have two?:D

BLEH! iFPS was one of the only games where I really do bitch about the controls. The lag didn't help much either. But I'm sure that NgMoco will take better care of their servers.

All that customization is pretty darn sexy. I hope a lot of players will be on playing as well, but I do hope they sell it for a lower price like $4.99-$6.99. A high price wouldn't stop me from buying it, but I fear it might stop hundreds of others. And the awesomeness of online games like this can only be characterized by how many people are playing it.

I can wait.. But I do like the upgrade system, rather than buying weapons. This a long with Touch Pets, upcoming games like ChinaTown Wars, MikeV: Do or Die, and a number of others is definitely showing the evolution of the iPod Touch as a gaming device.

Agreed! I guess I must be an NgMoco fanboy. I have Rolando 1, Topple, Topple 2, Maze Finger, Drop Ship, and Star Defense. They are all great and some of the best games I have. I also plan on buying Eliminate the day it comes out, along with Rolando 2.

I'm buying this as soon as I see it available, it looks great, and I don't mind the 4 player limit as long as combat doesn't slow down.

Although, with only 4 players I wonder how much variety there'll be in games.

Also, any ideas as to how long the games last?

Variety could be an issue, but the drive to upgrade and customize your character will hopefully keep it interesting

Matches were exactly 3 minutes long when I played, and I haven't heard anything since about that being changed.

Hey allen (from ngmoco), I was wondering, can you lose credits? Beside using credits for upgrades and what not, can you lose your credits? Also, will you guys plan on adding new weapons and content in updates? And finally, do you think this is your best game yet from ngmoco?

no, you don't lose credits unless you spend them. the credits that spill out when you die are bonus credits that can also be taken by you (if there still are any left).

You've got to be joking! Cube had potential, but it definitely was NOT one of the best FPS's. Even Hill Billy was better then that (and oh boy was Hill Billy awful.) The lag was horrible, whenever I got near a monster, my iPod would freeze up. The menu and stuff was so unorganized and annoying. The controls were "okay", took time to get used to.

Modern Combat is great, but I like FPS's with arenas and sci fi type FPSs and what not. The whole terrorist thing is fun, but it's so much more fun when you're playing against aliens and stuff.

I agree. The controls were not good at all. Took a long time to get used to. And the lag, oh my god, don't even get me started. Besides, I couldn't play, no one was ever online. The offline gameplay was terrible.

Yeah. This game is either gonna be extremely good, or terrible. It all depends on the amount of people playing it. I'm 95 percent sure it will be extremely good. Everything else (controls, graphics, gameplay, etc.) are fine, I'm just hoping it will have good online play. But I'm pretty sure a lot of people will play. To be honest, I'm willing to pay a ful $9.99 for Eliminate. I want to support all the hard work the developers put into this, and I'll even buy energy just to support the online play. But, there are other people who can't afford to spend 10 dollars, so $7 or $8 should be good.

Haha, that was a good joke. You can wait? Wow, well, I must say you have a lot of patience. Yes, a lot of games are revolutionzing the iPod Touch/iPhone app store, but this will help iPhone/Touch gaming a lot. I hope you understand what I'm saying. There is not one game that is like this, the closest thing is Cube, which is terrible. There is MC: Sandstorm, but that's not online, yet, and it revolves around terrorist. This is one of a kind. :)

Yeah. I'm not a fanboy. I like all their games though. They're all very good quality with lots of gameplay and replay value. They are also challanging. Not one person I showed disliked the Rolando series or any other ngmoco game I own. They definitely are really good developers.

Dang, that was a long post.

I really liked Cube though. It worked well for me, although I sucked at the controls.

    Can't wait for Eliminate!

I don't know if this has been asked before, so sorry if it has, but will Eliminate have a 3GS version also?

Will the 3G version be a separate purchase, or just an automatic graphical setting?
