It's on a case-by-case standard. Some developers can be shocked by having their App approved in three days, while others have it approved in 3-4 weeks. It's a 14 day AVERAGE. Not set in stone.

    Approval times...

I looked on the apple.com site for any mention of an approval time period. This is what I found:

"95% of applications are approved within 14 days of their submission."
    Source: http://www.apple.com/hotnews/apple-answers-fcc-questions/ - paragraph 6

So this means that about 95% will be approved or rejected within 2 weeks. Maybe Eliminate is so complex that it will take longer. Just a thought...

Ahh.. I see. Damn, what's taking Apple so long with Eliminate? It's not like they're adding something bad in the game. It's just online! How hard is it to test it?! lol

Well, perhaps they just don't get it. They have absolutely no experience in online shooters, which means they are noobs! :D

Because it's probably one of the most complex games to hit the App Store?

    Is that a question?

And how is it one of the "most" complex games?

It should take a maximum of a week to approve. Not over two.. There are RPG elements, but all they do is improve your gun/character. It's not really complex/

You're not looking at the big picture.

In-App purchases, Surveys for energy (which probably means an In-App web browser of some sort), online components, match-making, server connectivity, Plus+ service, heavy customization, etc. etc.

There's a lot to this game that Apple needs to check. I think the heavy online component and the cloud computing of Plus+ is what's making it take so long.

Ahh.. I see. But two weeks for that? It shouldn't take that long.

How would the online part/Plus+ make it take this long?

It's because of blood. As I can recall from the trailer, there was blood when the guy was getting shot at by the machine gun

Remember the episode "world of warcraft" from South Park?

Now imagine 40 app reviewers, hot pockets, soda, and Eliminate! lmao

    McDonalds! French Fries anyone?
At that place... with those... people...
You guys realize that you don't have to blame apple for everything? I mean, can you imagine testing all those apps for bugs and glitches, and then hearing everyone say how much they suck at their job and that they should test apps faster, etc. But in the end, apple has the same goal as the developer, to ensure that the app works well, and doesn't have any problems.

How would that cause problems? I mean look at inkvaders or even minigore! Blood should not be a problem in the app approval process.

    But that's the thing.
The devs already do their own beta testing. Apple should only test the app to see if it runs properly, to check for malware or any dubious actions and to determine if the app is suitable for every user or too obscene/gory to be released.
I know they have thousands of apps to test but they should not take this long. Especially with companies like ngmoco which is a well known and dedicated iPhone game developer with whom Apple is familiar.

Very true, I'm not saying apple is perfect, but it's tiring to look at reviews for Star Defense that say "C'MON APPLE! HURRY UP WITH ELIMINATE!" and rate it 1 star, that is pushing it to the limit. But, nonetheless apple shouldn't take, say, 3 weeks to hit the "Approve Button" for 1 app.

Yeah, some people are truly overreacting.
I can't wait for Eliminate but I'd be happy if they'd released TP: D to keep us occupied because I know that testing an online game takes some time. But what bothers me is that they're keeping both apps in the AppStore limbo.
    I hope they hurry up.
