Nah, that was like, some time ago, man. I'm getting rid of HOS in a month or so with Hybrid. And that new update on Gangstar.... Totally bad. They made it more stable and I think they fixed some pop up and more draw distance, but they took out things I found fun. At this point, I might get Asphalt 5 and maybe MC:S if its multiplayer is better than Eliminate, but besides that, I'm boycotting GL for a while.
We can talk about Gameloft if we want. How are we supposed to keep on topic about on one game by one developer, straight, with no news/info. social tip #1, Variety in a conversation, makes for an interesting conversation.
To be perfectly blunt and honest, Eliminate is not a particularly original game in a platform-independant sense. It runs a modified Quake 3 engine and features classic close-quarters 4 player deathmatch. The art style is interesting and well done, but similar styles have been seen before in various forms. The most original aspect of Eliminate is the armor customization features, and that is an element that has been seen in games before as well. A game doesn't have to be the most original game ever to be awesome, though. Originality is overrated - there is a lot to be said for doing a classic genre really, really well The impressive thing about Eliminate isn't it's uniqueness. It is the fact that ngmoco has brought a multiplayer shooter of this scale and quality to the iPhone. Nothing like this has ever been done on a mobile platform before, and the true originality in the project lies more in the target device than in the game itself.
Easy: if you don't have anything on topic to say about this game, don't post anything. People have managed to stay on topic for a while now, there is no reason to derail with this nonsense now. There is about to be a new batch of information posted on the ngmoco website in about 40 minutes.
For the record, I don't hate every gameloft game, just the games they got licensing to make, like Assassins Creed, Terminator, and Oregon Trail for example. Castle of Magic, Siberian Strike, HoS, Lets Golf, and Gangstar were all great. Last thing about Gameloft from me
Hey guys. It says on twitter not too expect the games when the timers run out. I just seen it. I thank it will be a week or two maybe the end of the month. That is better than it has been. Hi MJ
Here is a link to an audio feed from the Ngmoco community day as part of GamerTagRadio http://cdn2.libsyn.com/godfree/Ep211.mp3?nvb=20090930221053&nva=20091001222053&t=08adbe3cefca6e1da8c7d Yes, they addressed the name change issue
yeah, but what im saying is that the general idea of a 2d platformer using little balls as characters is simlar. same with sandstorm and CoD4, just the general idea of using a modern-esque style fps was used (although i do admit, sandstorm is more similar to CoD4 than rolando is to loco roco).
I'm not saying there are exactly 20 games. There might be 22 or so, didn't count em though. Certainly there are more than that. I'm sorry for having hurt your feelings, but to me there are just not too many REALLY good titles. Most of the games I played, where just no titles that you could easily compare with other console games. I like games that keep me challenged for a long time, and that I just can't find with too many games.
They made it sound like you won't be getting more than a few games a day before the recharge in that interview.
It would be unfortunate if they didn't give people enough time to play a day, but I think it is too early to jump to conclusions. There is a lot of information we still don't know, and they made it a point to not go over much on this front during the interview and the community day.
There were no 'personal attacks'. Just conversation . And @ kmacleod, Just because this is a thread about Eliminate, it doesn't mean that we have to talk about it 100% of the time in this thread. Sure, the general topic needs to stay on track, but it doesn't matter if a couple people go slightly off topic. I agree that going completely off topic is best avoided.
I'm not saying there's exactly 20. It's hard to make out what you're saying, but are you saying you compare iPhone games to console games?
Cool, then we agree then. A little off topic discussion never hurts, but I hated seeing what became of the last thread
kmacleod or Mary (assuming that mj stands for Mary Jane), How does the auto fire work exactly? Does it aim at enemies, letting the player press fire? Or does it automatically fire when the target is over an enemy?
It is important to separate Autofire from Auto Aim. There is a certain amount of locking that happens with the aiming in any mode, but Autofire has to be turned on manually. The way Autofire works is that whenever it detects an enemy within your line of sight, it fires your gun at him until he leaves your line of sight or until he dies. In this way, the focus becomes on keeping your gun trained on the enemy rather than in rapidly tapping a fire button. The downside to this mode is that if you have something like a rocket launcher equipped, it might fire at times when you'd rather do it manually. Which control style you use will depend on which weapons you like.
