Ngmoco will not be able to get an app in let's say.. 3 days in the appstore unless they are very lucky. It took EA more then a week to have dungeon hunter in the stores again fixed and the fix was already found by normal people in less then 3 days. So just think it will take 1 to 2 weeks, if they get aproval from Apple. Hope it won't get rejected.
but ngmoco is isponsered. They are sponsered by apple so when they submit it t will be approved almost automatically!
Just because they're funded by iFund doesn't mean they don't have to go through the approval process. I don't know where you got that from.
Should not lag as far as I've heard in the interview with Chris Plummer. All games should run well on iPod Touch/iPhone 2G.
I'm 99,9% sure that they will receive instant approval. The big players now have a representative and will be instantly approved. The process has been changed lately. As I've heard there is one team approving all sort of apps and a small team for large companies like EA/Gameloft/ngmoco. Since those companies usually want to be able to release a game in line with other platforms. Not being able to release game on schedule with other platforms like XBOX,PS3,NDS etc. would suck as far as marketing concerned and would EA etc. would not like this too much for too long. So I'm sure they won't have to wait 14 days. They will land on the same pile but will be tested immediately and all they test is if the game crashes or not, since all content has been discussed with Apple way before. The people approving those apps are already looking forward to playing it and probably had a prerelease version on their tables as well for faster approval process.
ELIMINATE is not just another game! It's the FIRST original game developed exclusively for the iPhone/iPod touch. ngmoco has been at it for almost A WHOLE YEAR! It's Apple's flagship product if you will and probably the most anticipated game until now for the iPhone. Eliminate for iPhone is like Super Mario for Nintendo 64, or Metal Gear for PS. It's a flagship product that makes people decide to buy a console in this case an iPod touch at least. Also it's not just a game you finish in 24 hours and delete. People loving FPS games will play it for months / years to come and will probably be buying energy like dope. As far as you can tell from the interviews it will take a LONG time to finish the upgrading possibilities and if so they will come up with new weapons, levels etc. Apple is also interested in seeing if the microtransaction business has a future, since most people haven't used in-app transactions as much as expected.
Are you kidding me? Most anticipated? You think the average customer knows or remembers the iFund from a conference a year ago? Most don't even know this game is coming out - only people on forums would know that. There's no Best Buy, EBGames or Gamestop representative telling this to save up or preorder this upcoming game. The only game the average customer actually anticipates is games coming from a developer who made several games they already bought and liked. In this respect the only games anticipated are those gimmick music games, and anything from EA or Gameloft.
When Dungeon Hunter got pulled and all the Gameloft Obsessors had to shut up about how flawless and polished Gameloft is compared to ngmoco. It was nice to have this thread on topic for a while.
There are like 50000 games in the App Store. Most of them didn't even take a month to make. If you sort the low-end games out there maybe 20 good quality games. Rolando, some Gameloft stuff, X2, Real Racing etc. Most games just don't appear on the iPhone, but on more than just one platform. I don't consider Gameloft titles to be original as they lack originality even in their names (Nova vs Halo, and so on). Real Racing is another game I call original. Eliminate, Rolando etc. are games that didn't exist before the iPhone.
