Well yeah the sailing isn't a realistic simulation, but I just like the look of it and the sounds. I thought the sea animation looks pretty realistic and the weather effects were good. It actually reminds me of the time I spent sailing with my family in our yacht around Europe, through some very rough seas (minus the pirates, cannons and warfare of course ).
Love the look of the ocean myself it's really well done I wonder how much of the game involves that probably very little which is a shame. If they could make a full game like that and I'd probably buy it.
I'm guessing the $70 price cut from the 3DS after 2.5 months and all of the salary cuts, drama, etc. that came with it are already forgotten?..along with the worst launch title lineup we've seen for any platform in a decade?..along with its complete failure in North America?..along with Nintendo making a loss in 2011 for the first time in?.. The Wii U..old games (Mass Effect 3 and Arkham City? LOL.) and more Mario, hooray. Btw I have a 3DS, all the games you would want for it, a Wii, and every Nintendo platform and handheld since the Super Nintendo. Call me a hater. Still looking forward to Kingdom Hearts 3D and Heroes of Ruin (3DS) in any case. The Wii U is a pretty mixed bag at the moment. It's pretty damn pricey ($250 for the console, $100 for the pad), it's trying to appeal to core gamers (AAA rehashes and a freaking "XBOX" controller), and it's just continuing Nintendo's long line of first-party series. We'll see I guess. Edit: As far as the conferences went, Ubisoft is definitely still the winner. Excited to check out all the games in detail in the upcoming days though.
I'll be very interested in seeing how well AC3's naval warfare actually plays. Graphically it looks amazing. My inner sea dog is remaining guardedly optimistic
Might be ok as a secondary console. I mean I play most of my hardcore games on the PC, but I don't think I would mind picking it up for some of the titles. And I guess you have to remember, whenever a new console comes out, the launch titles will almost always include many rehashes. Now the price isn't pretty, but I'm trying to keep optimistic. Also, Nintendo is trying to regain it's lost hardcore gamers, but at the same time trying to keep it's casual gamers it gained with the Wii. It's somewhat hard to effectively please both with one console, so even if they please only one of the groups, it will still probably be a win.
So the majority of normal people will now think Nintendo are trying to sell a controller for the wii that's pretty funny actually but I can see how the mistake would happen even the name wii-u makes it sound like an accessory. Pretty dull E3 though apart from Watch Dogs I haven't really seen anything that looks all that great.
Square Enix, I knew you wouldn't disappoint us. PS4 launch title please. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Does this demo from SE even mean anything? Or is it like the FF7 tech demo, where nothing will come of it.
Not sure, but there's a survey for it: https://form.square-enix.com/a.p/933/ I guess that's a good sign at least.
Ugh... This E3 has sucked. There's nothing I've seen that I didn't know about 3 months ago. (atleast that I care about). I'm super disappointed about Halo 4, it looks like Crysis... I have ACIII and Spider-Man to look forward to.
Ok, so today apparently Capcom has some iPad and ios announcements, anyone heard anything yet? Im hoping for a new street fighter!
There is a new mobile Street fighter it's already on some Android phones "Street Fighter IV HD Global championship 2012" but that's been around about a month now I think so I can't see it being announced at E3.
Rayman Legends looked fantastic (not in the Nintendo press conf, but the one the day before when they showed a lot more of how it plays - it really looks superb). And I'm really, really, really looking forward to Paper Mario Sticker Star. Paper Mario and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door are two of my favorite games of all time.
I take it you didn't play Crysis 2? The Spartan models from Halo 4 (not chief) look just the Crysis suit. Even the hands in first-person look the same.
NBA Ballers Beat (Kinect) is simultaneously incredibly clever, and mind bogglingly ill-conceived. It would be an excellent workout and fun, but who in the world can actually play the game in their house? If you don't know what this is, it's a Kinect rhythm game where you dribble a basketball to music. So it has you dribbling to one side, then pass to the other, faking a shot up and left, etc, to the beat of the music, and more complex moves at higher difficulty. It looks like a great workout and like it would be fun, but I don't think my wife would appreciate me dribbling a basketball in the living room. LOL. I can see it selling to gyms and being popular there, but that wouldn't seem to add up to many sales. I guess if you have a TV and Xbox w/Kinect in your garage, that would work. I'm sure the number of people that have that is way up there. LOL.
Holy hell! That looks amazing! Man, this and Rainbow Six Patriots are going to be two ridiculously amazing games next year. I thought both looked really good, but I definitely give the win to Last of Us. Last of Us looks like Left 4 Dead taken to an amazing new level. --- Personally, I'm pumped for Halo 4, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Assassins Creed 3, and Borderlands 2. Edit: Far Cry 3 too! What got me the most excited was Ascend: New Gods. Apparently, you'll be able to play it on both XBLA and Windows phone, and it'll support asynchronous multiplayer between both. This is definitely moving gaming in the right direction for me. Lastly, Smartglass looks pretty cool too. I wonder how it'll fare against Wii U? I think the Wii U is a decent concept, but will the games just be like the Wii - "super fun novelty at first, but pretty lame soon after?"
