So Paul, are you thinking of like a couple to a few days at most for the marketing campaign? I think that anything more than that would be overkill and create unrealistic expectations....
The marketing stuff is pretty straightforward - can't go into details because of the Apple NDA but trust me we aren't talking TV and print ads! It's all to do with positioning on the App Store. Anyway just to let you know the latest (and final) developer diary is now live for viewing at: Car Jack Streets: Dev Diary #4 This one covers some of the technical approach in the game and isn't quite as boring as that sounds! Cheers and good night! P
Not really.... It's funny how all these people are saying all this stuff like marketing is going to hurt the sales and it's not worth it when most don't really care about the game and just want to wrap their greedy little hands around it. It's kinda sad that people are trying to 'con' them into thinking something different so they can get the game faster. Actually scratch that, it's not sad it's actually kind of pathetic.
So you are calling me pathetic? Your reasoning is faulty at best. Marketing for a game that costs less than 6-7$ at most is just counterproductive in most situations. Anyone who reads this site obviously knows about the game already, and doesn't need any marketing to convince them. Those who do not follow this site are the majority of the purchasing base, and therefore would not be influenced by any ads or marketing material linked to or related to this site. They wouldn't be exposed to it any where else either, unless they read some random blog about iPhone games or something. So the only way to gain exposure is through the AppStore itself, as Paul mentioned. So I'm assuming Apple will feature the game for its release, which will create a much larger amount of visibility that any other medium. As such, I don't see the need for a delay once the game has been approved for additonal marketing if Apple is going to the feature the game anyway. And for the record, insulting people makes you look childish and ignorant. Calling someone "greedy" because they are anticipating a game doesn't make sense. How can you say someone doesn't care about the game simply because they want it released? I would think once the game is released, it will sell very well regardless of what a few individuals think or state as their opinion. Try to be more constructive in the future...[/rant]
Guys, keepin mind that those of us who visit this site are "in the know" of the newest games out for their device. The general population does not know what CJS is, let alone know that it's coming out. TAG needs to do what they can to inform all that they can what the game is and that it's out. The marketing isn't for "us", it's for the rest of the iDevice community. The more people that know of the game means more potential buyers, if these buyers can superceed the money "lost" on marketing then you have made a good business decision.
For all we know that could be a year from now. I doubt it but it could. Sorry if I sound like a kid or something but I wanna play this as soon as possible. It looks so good!....
Paul is just trying to ensure that CJS won't be buried among all the fart apps. So what if we have to wait a few more days. Tag Games have spent a lot of money developing this and want to get the attention of the mainstream audience.
I was getting really irritated with the release of this game, so I went out, traded my DS phat and gb sp, and bought a DSi and GTA: Chinatown Wars (amazing game btw!). Now, I am calm. haha. It will probably be out by friday.
Sorry, but no way can any game on the iphone beat GTA: Chinatown wars. So im keeping my DS, and i'd recommend keeping DSi.
For all we know it's not going to be out in a year. As of now apple has not fully reviewed it yet so once that is done (possibly by the end of the week) we will probably have a couple of days where Paul will figure out what's going on and then release it. But right now begging for the game will do nothing because Apple is still reviewing it so theres nothing they can do about it until thats done.
I got 70 dollars, approximately the equivalent of 45 euros. Then I used 50 bucks and bought a flashcart.
