    This is creepy

Why would people want an app that showed them scary pictures?

    I really dislike this app.
But only for the reason that I dislike the whole sex offender registry in the first place. It's a valid tool, but there are some ridiculous ways that people end up on it and it ruins their lifes.

Get caught peeing against a tree in a park? Sex offender.
18 year old having sex with his 17 year old girlfriend? Sex offender.

Grouping these folk in with sexual predators is insane, and puts them in potential danger.

Sad thing is people are pushing for the same thing here in Canada. If they do it I hope the requirements for being listed are for real crimes.

Does it tell you the offense?
Also, statistically kids are more likely to be victimized by a family member or friend of the family than a stranger.
When you get down to raw numbers "Stranger danger" is a myth due to its rarity. It's silly that it's taught to kids because sometime strangers may be the only ones that can help them.

Classic example of a product without a point. The state databases are all online, and are going to be more accurate then any second hand sort. It took me all of 20 seconds to learn there are no registered offenders in my town on my pc. The web address is http://www.sexoffender.com/state.html
