Wow. I can't believe your having trouble with the controls. I personally enjoyed every second of this game and found the controls to be spot on. I think your device is having issues or you might not be good at touch screen games.
Yeah, I feel the same. I actually would consider it one of the very best adaptations of a controller scheme to touchscreen. Not ideal, conversions of these types never really will be the same as they are as a controller, but certainly one of the very best that makes the game very controllable on touchscreen.
You can control the camera distance from the character in the settings menu. That should help a little in the platforming department. Otherwise bar mfi controllers or some form of haptic feed back, touch controls will always be challenging for ports of old games that were not originally meant for touch screens. Btw @ mad monstors: may I know the current resolution for the iPhone 6 plus at default settings? I don't think half way means half resolution? Otherwise that would be 1/4 of the native pixels ie 960*540?
Can anybody tell me how this runs on the iphone 6 plus? My iphone 5S runs it smoothly at max settings and resolution. hoping my 6 Plus isn't a downgrade.
@longpants. I'll try the game again with that setting with camera distance. @everybodyelse. I am not using any kind of controller. And no I'm not very good at platformers. But I have played/tried many of them (used to play a lot back in the mid 80s to early 90s). But I have never had so much of a problem even getting the character to face a certain way. I'm not even at the difficult acrobatic/jumping part yet. Just a very slight user input seems like I'm over correcting and the character will turn too far. I just can't get him facing in the proper direction required to surmount the next challenge. Maybe I just can't get all those settings tuned just right for me. I wanted to enjoy this game because it sure looks like a good one. But it was just too frustrating for me. Anyway I'll give it another try with a different camera setting and let you know if it helps me
The default setting for the i6 Plus is shown below: I assume that the default setting represents the optimal experience. It's definitely not native with a slight blur around the edges. It doesn't look that bad. I tried sliding all the settings to maximum and the game starts to lag and stutter badly. I don't expect native resolution but at least at the same res as the i6 that's why I'm curious about the resolution at the default setting. Btw what is the default setting for your 5s? Also if assistive touch is on turn if off, your performance will improve.
Also, im confused here because in this video at 7:50 the resolution slider is all the way up on the 6 plus and it doesn't appear to be lagging at all http://youtu.be/JnKi40DaaL4?t=7m50s
The video is only representative of the beginning part of the game. It gets a lot more hectic latter on. The lag (drop in fps) is not constant throughout. It gets worse when there are more things on screen I.e. Explosions, big towns, more npc etc. bearable in 3rd person but less so in first person. It's also less perceivable when watching a video. Playing at both max settings and default settings, I find that the sharpness becomes less of an issue (due to small screen and a lot pixels) when compared to fps. I fiddle with settings quite obsessively coming from pc gaming and what might be acceptable to me might not be acceptable to some. But, i6 Plus is definitely not powerful enough for native resolution and max settings combine for this game. But for what its worth, it definitely performs better than the vita version coming from max settings (see video below). https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=waK71aPQirk PS: if the developers can use higher resolution textures now that Apple has increased the app size allowance it will be a boon for this game wishful thinking I know T.T
After reading posts about the controls being really good I decided to give this game another chance and I reinstalled it. But this time before playing the game and fiddling with the settings, I played without changing anything. And the character isn't as hard to control as I initially thought. Now I'm making progree in this game. Thanks.
New update is on the way with sensitivity options for MFI controller. That's great news,i found the controls a bit to"nervous".Good reason for another playthrou of this brilliant game
Finally,it's messed up after update to iOS 8.3,instead I wasn't problem on 8.2..my MAD CATZ it's ready..
i tried it myself now on Air 2 with iOS 8.3 and i can confirm a graphical glitch with Stranger himself. He is kinda"flickering".Besides this all good...i have already sent a mail to the dev,he is very responsive and already implemented a few suggestions i wrote him (distance slider, controller sensitivity...).I have no doubt it will be fixed asap.
I got the confirmation that the next (already submitted) update not only brings controller sensitivity but also the iOS 8.3 fixes. All good...
