We accidentally broke MFi gamepad support in version 1.0.1 (MFi 1st/3rd person button doesn't work - need to tap right side of screen as workaround). If you're using an MFi gamepad please wait for update 1.0.2. Sorry.
Controls no longer work after they've been moved around,The camera doesn't register the lower part of the screen 'after' customizing the controls, please take a look.
Question about cloud saves, since I may need to temporarily delete the game to make room: If I delete and reinstall, will those cloud save files just show up under my saves in the game, while the rest will be gone?
It's an ok game. Played a few hours and got some good bounties. Looking forward to advancing and seeing what more is in store.
Actually, I'd love an explanation for how cloud saves work before I delete anything. I noticed in the "Load" screen, the cloud button is available for all but auto saves and region start saves. Does that button upload the local saves to the cloud? Does that mean I could potentially back all my saved up to the cloud, delete, and they'll be there when I reinstall?
Correct. Just the one cloud save will remain and will be pulled automatically when the app is launched. Note that you can backup and restore all your save games manually by either doing an iTunes backup/restore or pulling the files to a PC using iExplorer. In iExplorer save files will located under Apps/Stranger/Documents/savedata. Drag that folder to your PC and then after re-installing Stranger drag them back to your device in same location.
Thanks! iExplorer and iFunbox have been weird for me since updating to iOS 8 -- the stuff they back up doesn't actually seem to be the save data. But I'll try it with this game and see how it goes.
It will work for sure. The dev is telling you exactly which files to save and their path, and iExplorer/iFunbox are just file explorers IMO iFunbox does the job better, because iExplorer (at least the last version I used) forced to unplug and replug the iPhone every 4-5 folders explored... Oh, and before anyone asks, the iPhone doesn't need to be jailbroken to backup the savegame files
Yes, I understand all that, but my point is that I've been having issues since iOS 8. I've had other devs tell me the exact file to copy over and when I did so, my save didn't appear. Something's funky with it. I used to be able to copy everything from the folders, even the app data itself. Now, barely anything transfers to my PC, and what does is tiny is size. For instance, before iOS 8, my IB3 transferred over perfectly. I compared the data to my iOS 8 saves and stuff was missing, primarily the files called "save" something or other. Going to try it with this game tonight and hope for the best, but I'm worried I'll have the same issues.
Ah, sorry, didn't understand you. This sounds as if iFunBox/iExplore need an update to be fully functional with iOS8. The fact that iExplore needed the device unplugged and replugged because "the maximum number of connections had been reached" always made me think that iFunbox/iExplore devs were taking advantage of a bug/exploit to explore the user file system. Maybe Apple fixed that under iOS8 and that's the reason it doesn't work any more...
It appears the savedata files copied over to my PC. There are game.save that go up to about 1500kb and metadata.dat that are around 300kb. One thing I never could figure out is how to get whole folders transferred back to my device. It always makes me choose one file at a time. I also used to be able to transfer everything from the app, which would have been over 1GB in this case. But it only transferred 170mb worth of data. I liked when I could copy everything and then worry later about which files I need.
Ah, then iFunbox works as it should. You can delete my private message I just sent. There are some archives which don't save correctly. Savegames do transfer well, but others don't and create 0KB archives. I had the same issue with Star Trek Trexels, trying to save my game and clean its cache (>400MB with useless temporary files...). In any case, just transfer the save games. To copy folders, I used iFunbox and dragged the folder from my desktop to the device's location. That worked fine.
So that must be the problem I've been having -- not all games have save files under Documents. Sometimes their plist in Preferences holds the save -- and that's what's been having issues. I had a dev tell me the exact file to transfer (a plist) and it basically came out blank. This wasn't an issue on iOS 7. Makes it a huge gamble to delete a game with the intention of still playing it.
