so why we punish each week every korean, chinese or east european dev that publish a game with need of a connection without even installing it??? we must be more correct, the rules are valid for everyone or for no one.
Because this game does not require an internet connection beyond the initial download. I don’t know how many times you need to hear this before something sinks in. For s sake.
Theres only several hundred ratings though. Even quite a widespread bug would typically hit a negligible number of people when were talking numbers that small in the first place. And personally I havent left a review because I havent played it enough to be able to judge it and because I have faith that it will be sorted. But youre right that most people dont seem to be affected. And I hope this does well. What little Ive been able to play was great, and Im sure itll get patched. People should know about issues though.
are you kidding me??? which chapter of the book you missed ??? are you sure you have read every post, or do you talk nonsense??? there's more than one guy here that has the internet request to post-download levels, me included. anyway, here it is the devs answers in the upcoming thread, so it remains clear to you how it works. 04-09-2018, 06:11 AM #31 deresi Senior Member Joined: Feb 2018 Posts: 186 Does the following statement in the app store description mean that the additional data download server is outside of Apple? "An internet connection will initially be necessary to complete the download of app data for Oddmar." So is it a download of data similar to Kamco's RPG Djinn Caster? 04-11-2018, 03:17 PM #32 yohan1234 Junior Member [Original Poster] Joined: Apr 2014 Location: Gothenburg, Sweden Posts: 20 No we only use the Apple servers. You can play the game while it download the rest of the levels! in my case it doesn't download all the levels, only the first three, then it downloaded again... i'm not stuck like others, the game works fine, but having to wait every time for the download piss me off, it's not a "logical" situation.
@Gwarmaxx I was referring to the fact that you have been comparing this game to others that require a continuous internet connection. This game doesn’t. It has an initial download when you start the game, and that’s it. Anything else is probably a bug, and you’ve been advised several times to take this up with the developer. Have you done so, or are you having too much fun complaining in here?
i haven't that bug, i have only the request for levels download, and i'm on a 6S, maybe on an iPhone 7/8 or X the complete download is much more fast... you didn't noticed, but the game initially downloads while you play, that's what the devs say (have you seen my previous post?). edit > but that's not the only issue, seems also that some devices (a bug?) delete all downloaded data everytime the app is closed. so in that case an internet connection is required all the time.
I have not been in TA for a long time, but when I read the articles here, TA's professional reviewers do not seem to care about Internet connectivity issues. However, they seem to be applying some contradictory criteria for developers in non-English speaking countries. It does not mean that they do not understand that. However, it seems that it is easier for them to do so. Anyway, I hope that the initial downloading issue for this game is resolved. That's why it's uncomfortable.
Sometimes when advocating for a game, defenders of that game are excusing it on behalf of the developer that it is not the reason for lowering the rating for this game. I understand them because I think they love the game too much. But for me it is inconvenient enough to require improvement or modification. If there is a reasonable reason why the developer has chosen this approach, I could agree with that. The only convincing reason I've heard from other developers is about pirated and cheat-based illegal remapping apps (especially games that are also served on Android). But my current knowledge and judgment alone do not know why the developer took this inconvenient way. Of course, you might be mentioned that this great game does not need to modify it because of you. (Many people who rated the game on the App Store do not care about it, only a few of them have problems with it, It may not be important.) But on the contrary, I also like this game, so I'd like to say that I think this way should be improved to make this great game perfect.
It is my opinion that the volume of complaints about online requirements for ANY game, relative to the number of worthwhile comments discussing a game itself, is too high in these forums. So many threads have become pointless arguments about peoples’ annoyances on certain subjects that the forums are becoming worthless for people actually interested in talking about a game. I wouldn’t blame anyone for going elsewhere to talk about a game they like. And I would fully blame the complainers with their endless campaigns against their personal pet peeves for killing the forums as a whole. And here you are COMPLAINING about the LACK of complaints. Because most people haven’t had the problem you have. Email the developer. Let everyone else enjoy and discuss a game they like.
I had an initial download and that is it. To say that this game requires any sort of internet connection (other than to download from app store) is just plan false. I downloaded the game and that was it. Never needed any sort of internet connection at all to play. This is a fantastic premium game.
Same here. No issues. One download at the start. This thread has become too much about a little, single issue that only seems to affect a small fragment of people and rather seems to be an annoyance instead of gamebreaking (somebody posted reinstall works). Anyway, game itself is absolutely gorgeous, varied gameplay, funny story. Amazing platformer without any f2p crap. If you haven’t so far, support the devs and get this little gem
Oddmar issues Hello Here is some answers from Oddmar team: We had to support only ios 11 because has some frame drop problems in previous devices before iPhone 5s which already supports ios 11. We wanted to provide the best experience. Additional downloads are required for playing Oddmar here is our explanation for re-downloading levels from servers. Normally game needs to download 3 additional levels than rest of the game with 2 packages. We have calculated smooth progress, while you are playing levels Oddmar needs to download rest of the levels in a few minutes. But we had a problem with Apple servers in some countries. Along the progress, if the game cannot download from servers, game stucks on downloading. We are working on this right now but if you free some space up to 600MB and restart your device and re-install Oddmar from App store solves all problems. If you don't have safe space on your device let's say around 200MB after fully downloading Oddmar, iOS deletes Oddmar data to use for some other application/games. There are some crashes on gameplay but if your iCloud enabled, it is safe to re-install the game from Appstore. You don't lose progress. We are truly sorry about this issues, we are releasing a new build this week. While thanks for your support on the game. We read them one by one and get excited. You are always welcome to write us on our support page on oddmargame.com Thank you!
