It's been like that for me all week. Phone downloads work but if I try to download apps off iTunes it constantly errors out.

How come android is on par with the iPhone 5 in this comparison? and iPhone 5S is higher? also i have seen some videos of the Octodad ios version and in the beginning the mirror that octodad looks at isnt reflective on the ios version but it is on the pc version, why is this?

Finally, will there be an option on android to toggle the graphics in anyway, to make it look like the PC version?? please make an option and will the shield have the same graphics as the PC version??

sorry for long post, but thanks for porting this game to mobile devices, heres hoping it will run on my device (Motorola RAZR i xt890)

It's already a great game the graphics is fine
If you want superior graphics just buy the console version

On iOS it is easy to filter by devices (and we have all the main devices to test on), and it is a bigger market for paid apps. Android does have some graphics options determined by framerate (and in the menu) but there are too many devices to do it perfectly and test them, and too easy for a user to put the game in an unplayable/broken state if we allow all the options. SHIELD TV/Tablet has better graphics than the iPhone version (on par with pc) because we can filter those devices easily and Nvidia was kind enough to give us some units to test on.

There are no reflections in mobile version because the mobile graphics cards are for the most part not good enough (for our naive implementation at least) to enable real time reflections, and some transparent effects (rain on the boat, as many fire particles in the cafeteria). Mobile graphics cards at this point are really good at rendering millions of polygons and using high level shaders (so much better than the old desktop intel gma950!), but are not designed to draw lots of transparent overlapping objects well, and still suffer from heat and ram limitations (why textures are more compressed and lower res).

The lowest device we have tested on is the Galaxy S3 (and it does not run the game very well, similar to iPhone 4S, playable at 20-30fps, but noticeable framerate drops). I believe the Motorola RAZR i xt890 is worse than the S3 (although close), and a single core phone will not be able to run the game at a playable framerate, as much of the game benefits from running the physics on other cores.

Thanks for replying! looks like ill need a better phone then, im hoping to get a s3 soon but do you think when mobile devices get better than can you upgrade the graphics? and will the Shield have reflections aswell?

but please let there be graphic options for android, because it will benefit devices in the future!

    thanks!

Is the tvOS version a universal binary with the iOS version?

Yes. And iCloud syncs the two.

We recommend a real mifi controller, because the remote is very limited, although we may try adding some other or new control schemes for the remote.

We have an update coming that fixes the following issues:

    - iCloud memory leak fixed that caused possible Grocery crash on low memory devices.
    - Save file validation to delete corrupt checkpoint files caused by crash. It may crash one more time while loading after update, but on second relaunch you will be able to start at level beginning again (Grocery/whatever level that corrupted your save).
    - Touch input quit working fix: Touches cleared if existing longer than 30 seconds to remove possible ghost touches causing issues.
    - Rain effect removed for performance.
    - "This is text" changed to "Disabled" in Co-op menu.
    - Yield processor more often for minor battery/heat savings.

It's been submitted to Apple with an expedited request, so hopefully it happens early next week.

    @devonsoft

Can you please change the name under the App-icon from "Octodad D..." to just "Octodad" ?

Love this game so much and I'm so happy to be playing it on my phone! The controller supports helps a lot! Touch implementation was very smart but honestly slows down the experience

Android 4.3. The minimum recommended is Galaxy S4. It does run on S3 but it is quite choppy in parts of the game. It runs well on my Moto E 2nd gen. If your phone supports OpenGL ES3 it should be fine, if only ES2 it better be an old flagship or a recent mid tier.

Maybe, if it's easy and I don't have to change the name on iTunes, but we may release other Octodad games in the future.

The AppStore is so ridiculous sometime with the user ratings...the game went from a solid 4 star average to a 3, after receiving an update mere days after release... SMH

No one's left a written review so I don't know if there is a new issue or something else broke. I noticed I was unable to download the game fresh on my ipad, said it was unavailable until I restarted the device then it was fine. Also got a couple users report the same so perhaps the update messed up the app store cache or something on Apple's end didn't refresh right idk.

Yeah app reviews are a joke..

Awesome game.. The only other game I've played that's kind of similar to this is surgeon simulator and I'm enjoying this much more.. My girlfriend thinks it's super cute.. Always a plus when the girlfriend likes it ##

Oh my god, I played it on PS4 and it's a fun little game. But I am confused, how does the control work on touch screens? It was not that easy controlling the octopus with a PS4 controller and I don't know how'd they managed to port the controls on touch screen.

Left side touch raises and moves left leg, right side touch raises and moves right leg. Tap or swipe together two fingers/thumbs to switch to arms mode. One finger/thumb moves arm in horizontal plane, two fingers/thumbs down moves arm in vertical plane. Tap to grab/release. Swipe quickly to throw.

I think in general it works quite well, walking feels better to me than mouse keyboard actually, but controller is still the best way to play (and we support controllers on both iOS and Android). It's harder to speed run because you have to switch modes and it's difficult to quickly grab and release things (We removed the globe achievement because it was impossible to do in 30 seconds).
