My first preference would be to have right left (double tap) for jump. My second preference would be to have a moveable button or zone. I would like to say here, the tapping feels great though, it is really great. Keep up the good work. My third preference would be, if it is only possible to have zones, is something like this: Thanks!
A 4th preference would be pressing left and right at the same time to jump Edit: oh whoops, that's what they meant by double tap
Thanks guys, I will test this soon and let you know how it feels. I have couple of you on TestFlight so we can discuss new options later by email. Thanks for your feedback!
Fun game with the same feeling as Boson X but minus the controls. The swipe controls feels a lot more responsive than the touch none before the update. I still wish there was an option for the controls can be the same as Boson X touch each side to turn to each side, or double tap to do the jump. My finger gets tired from all the swipes. Otherwise, good level design..just wish there is an endless mode. Fun game overall for people who enjoy games such as this, Super Hexagon or Boson X.
I cant get the hang of the tap controls so think I will stick to the swipe option, I cant make 10% when using tap, I thought Id love tap after playing BosonX.
It's because you have to move a finger/thumb to flip up. The game is just too fast for that. The only type of tap controls I can see working are exactly Boson X style. I considered suggesting it during beta but I just though the swipe controls worked really well as they were. I have to say though, the swipe controls seem much more difficult on the smaller screen (I just started trying this out on my phone).
Yeah and Ive also found my hand/arm blocks the view ahead when tapping to jump. Ive tried a bit more and I agree with others that the tap area at the sides needs to made bigger, my game went bonkers because I was tapping outside the area.
I am working on the endless mode which will be part of the next major release including some new music tracks and maybe even more. Regarding controls it is always a thing of personal preferences. I hear lot of positive feedback to new tap controls as negative comments. Two options are just enough and I will see if I will make some changes for the next update or leave the controls as they are right now. Anyway thank you all for your feedback, it means you care about the game!
Well, all i can say is that the swipe-only controls are perfect in this game. It requires a bit more dexterity to pull off, but it makes things a bit more responsive in this game. The taps are ok, but it may be a little trickier to implement an "L+R to flip" controls since one wrong direction here is a date with the game over screen. In Boson X, not having to press L+R perfectly simultaneous has a bit of threshold to compensate for the slight delay in pressing both sides to jump. In Octagon, that might already mean moving to one side before actually executing the flip, and moving to one wrong side is doom here.
I think alot of us like having the tap controls, it's more the zones, especially having tap in the middle. Would you consider having zones more like this?
Thanks for the response! Yeah, the new swipe controls feels really responsive...just hard for my to pull off quick moves. Buts that's just me. ;-) I actually don't know how to switch back to tap controls.. The first I dl with the promo code had tap controls, and it felt like there was always a delay. But the next day, the updated version with the swipe controls came out and it felt a lot more responsive. Either case, I've made it up to lev 6 and gotta say great level design. I always hit the "retry" button thing that switches up the levels so it feels like its random endless for me. Overall, the more I play, the more fun it gets! My thumb is just tired from all the swiping. ;-)
Personally, I think the controls don't feel right. I haven't read the entire thread, but I'm willing to bet I'm not the first that's said that. The ideal controls, in my opinion, would be the controls from Type:Rider, or Boson X: Tap left - left Tap right - right Tap left+right together for jump. With these controls you would never need to move your thumbs. I really like this game, btw, but the controls just aren't growing on me like they should. Also, what's up with the "jump" function? That just doesn't feel right.
