The skeleton does make a good Halloween implication that October 31 is the day it could be released but you would think that they would announce their release date a few weeks in advance to build hype. But if I was to bet I would say November 7 just from the title of the image and the the number of arrows being the day of the month.
I'm pretty sure the hype is fully built up, it's so close though no word on a release date... oh I hope it's close like Halloween close If the developers do read this keep up great work! If this game is as great as it has been shown this is gonna rule!
November 7th is Rayman Fiesta Run release day, 2012 AppStore Game of the Year sequel... it wouldn't be wise to release Oceanhorn the same day.
I am pretty sure they are going to settle for 7th November release date anyway. They will be able to compete with Rayman Fiesta Run without much fuzz. Oceanhorn is aim towards hardcore IOS gamers, who are willing to pay the premium price tag.
Its not that, you got it wrong... hardcore or premium or whatnot.... I meant for the Editors Choice Apple chooses every week. Wouldnt be wise to release it the same day.
Again, its AppStore visibility, and that means all for developers... you and me are hardcore gamers and don't care for that, but there are a few more users on iOS than on this forum...
There is not a single Game that could survive besides Rayman Fiesta Run. Launching Oceanhorn on the same Date as the Ubisoft Title would be similar to last Weeks Nokia Press Conference being on the same Date as the Apple One if you know what I mean
Well, not every game needs to be an Editor Choice to sell very well. In addition, by releasing it this week they will probably face more competition from Halloween sale, Papa Sangre 2, and Bit Trip Runner (there is a good chance that Anomaly 2 is going to release on IOS this week as well). Furthermore, Apple doesn't have a specific preference for their Editor Choice (indie or not, previously publish game or not, etc.).
As a game, I bet Oceanhorn will be most definitely more exciting than Rayman Fiesta Run. Oceanhorn is a completely new game, and sort a new genre to the iOS gaming market with a story-driven gameplay and claiming hours and hours of gameplay. Rayman on the other hand seems like the same basic game as before, with new themes and a few new features. As a business decision however, it'd be insane to release Oceanhorn the same day as Rayman. The previous game got 2012 Game of the Year, and Fiesta Run will surely be top featured in the App Store on November 7th. If Cornfox & Bros can somehow manage to guarantee from Apple to also feature them on November 7th, then that's great; if not, then they should either release a week before or a week after Rayman Fiesta Run. I'll end up getting both anyways
Why don't they just release earlier next week instead of a normal Thursday release? Although I reckon if they release it the week after Rayman Fiesta Run, it would be the safest choice.
Yea I'd say they should release early to get the early spotlight, same time as another big title or AFTER would be such a terrible waste. And just have to remember, seems like a lot of ios people complain about anything over $0.99 so it's best to get the attention early on rather than try to climb over others.
They need to release early to steal the spot light. They should just release for halloween, it would get MASSIVE attention. People buy more on holidays ^.* plus, it's already got the hype.
Halloween isn't a good launch date. Also, the hype will build more if they announce a release date, I think. Or they could surprise launch it on a random day at like 3:21am and everyone would shit bricks when they wake up.
October 31st or November 1st is a good launch day. It's the day the iPad Air comes out, so millions will be going in and buying new iPads and trying out new apps and games on their new devices. Apple usually updates the App Store featured page the day a new device comes out (They did it with the iPhone 5s and iOS 7, and last year with the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini), so it's a good potential to be featured. You'll also see tech sites putting up articles for best apps and games for iPad Air like 9to5Mac, The Verge, and of course Touch Arcade, so releasing Oceanhorn the same day is a great way to get the word out. And lastly, releasing it before Rayman Fiesta Run means that you get people to spend money on your game rather than releasing it after a big title like Rayman which will have IAPs that will cut money off people and not spend money buying Oceanhorn. Most casual iOS users don't buy games every single week.
