I appreciate your honest review even if others don't. While, yes, this is an iOS focused forum, it's not like other platforms don't exist. As we do get more premium(esque) titles with higher price points, these issues are going to become more relevant. It's not as simple as dismissing the shortcomings because, hey, OceanHorn costs 1/4th what a Zelda game does - after all the hardware to play Zelda games costs 1/3rd as much as comparably competent iOS hardware and stays competent 2X-3X as long. There are games that are outstanding regardless of platform, and there are games that are outstanding because of the platform, and this is the latter in my opinion.
I'm on Tikeral and swam across to the "Hills" area that has a cave leading to the top of the hill. There's also a locked door that connects the area to the rest of the island. I can't swim back without dying and can't figure out what to do at the top of the hill. My items are bomb/arrow/first spell. Help!
Don't sweat it, people on TA often struggle with the concept of the existence of viewpoints other than their own... FWIW, I for one appreciate your candor. The day TA devolves into a pollyanna "everything about everything is great" site is the day I stop using it. Whether a game is $0.00 or $100.00, people should feel free to share honest, thoughtful impressions, which you did. I'm actually pretty comfortable with the concept of opinions and others having experiences dissimilar to mine. Besides, while it does not help a developer to have players telling every single person they know "in real life" that a game isn't worth buying, it conversely does help the developer to have players engage in candid conversation with them, as you are attempting to do. Nothing is more frustrating than seeing lost opportunities to get thoughtful impressions to the people that arguably matter the most in the equation: the people with the power to contemplate the feedback and possibly make meaningful changes that could benefit everyone involved. Cheers. DBC
Keep trying! I did the same thing but it is possible to swim back to where you came from, you just have to do it at exactly the right point - from what I remember you need to go into the water from a rock which is in the near corner of the beach you're swimming from.
Thanks for your reply mate, it's good to hear The urge to provide feedback becomes strong when a game shows a lot of promise, but fumbles, like I feel this one does. It's not because I enjoy complaining, but rather that it makes me consider how it could be improved to become that much better of an experience. I play games for many reasons; to relax, for excitement, as escapism, and as inspiration. I also enjoy making games, although I have yet to publish my bigger project. And I don't think that that makes my opinions and feedback "holier than thou"; it makes me care more about games, as they're pastimes, passions and puzzles to be examined, all wrapped in one artform.
Stuck in cave Beautiful game. Well worth more than the asking price! But I'm stuck: Spoiler In the caves in Restless Grove (Forest Shrine Island) there is a big stack of boxes. I used a bomb, mistakenly, and now a couple of boxes are gone. NOW I realize that I needed to use the spell I got, but I can't make it work, I don't know how to use it. Would someone tell me how to use it (the For Dummies version) and am I screwed because I blew a couple of boxes up? Thanks!
You have to go to another island, rescue the honey man from a dungeon and bring the honey back to the fish people. Trouble is can't remember off hand which Island you go to I've also noticed I can buy honey in the shop on the town island...
Gillfolks drop is where you take the honey. The gatekeeper won't let you through without it. And you can only buy it in town AFTER you save the honey man.
Asked these questions before, but did not get any answers. In order to get 100% completion, what do you need to do? Is it necessary to whack every bush and every pot in sight to get 100% completion? Or is it simply that you need to completion all missions? Is there any penalty if you die and need to respawn? Do you lose points or gold or magic every time you die? Can someone help here? I like to know before I plunge the bucks to buy the game...
Hello, This game is really good (despite the several game bugs, that obviously will be fixed in a incoming update) and well translated in french. However, I'm stuck Spoiler in finding the wind vane asked by Hermit to go on the Sky Island . Any clue ?! Thanks in advance.
For those who are becoming mad looking for the Wind direction object (Coocoo or something like this) for the Hermit's construction, here is the answer : Spoiler You have to go to the Main Island where all the Shops are and just turn around the House of the Guy who works with Fireworks (the first house at your Right when you arrive on the Island). You just have to take the way up at the left of the house and take the "Bird Style object" on the roof, by hand. I agree it's usually beter to let people search for clues and resolve it by themselves because that's the whole meaning of the game. But beeing stuck because of a simple problem like this, it can be frustrating...
On attack telegraphing = easier: Really? Go play any Zelda game, or God of War, or any good action game; telegraphed attacks does not mean easier when done right; it means you can observe your opponent and act according to their movements. I didn't find combat hard, I found it unsatisfying. Linearity: Where did I say that? You mean my gripes with poor level design where paths are often indistinguishable from non-paths, and what seems like traversable areas just awkwardly stop you when you're halfway on top of them? Because that has nothing to do with libearity. Interaction icons: Of course I do. But when entities are too close, the wrong icon lights up at times, or only one does and you can't get the one you want without fiddling a lot. A wall should clang when you hit it with a swors if a boulder (also immovable) next to it does. It's called consistency, which is important in game worlds. I knew the "us" was a bad idea. Read it as "us that have played a lot of Zelda games" if you will. It feels like a cheap imitation because there are too many flaws in its gameplay, while it looks a lot like a certain other series. It feels cheap because it lacks gameplay polish when you compare it with that other series, which again is inevitable because it borrows so heavily without proper implementation.
I need help guys! I just finished the first dungeon and the well-dungeon. Now I am at some entrance with a guy guarding it saying that he wants some honey.... Where do i get it?
