    @Duivs

    Honestly, none of us thought
    "Planting a seed"
like that! Well... on the other hand, I guess the guy is old enough to use the sword...

Yeah, that arrow trap creates fire arrows now. It is possible to set wooden objects fire in the game, arrows are no exception. :)

    Great Game

Loving the game so far. To all the devs. Awesome job. Thanks so much for this. Its the best action adventure i've played on ios that was developed specifically for ios.

Is there a way to invert the controls for the gun on the boat?

    Stuck

I am stuck in the hermit's well quest, There is a switch in a room right after the sign for room of answers that has a skeleton and some bats in it. Any suggestions?

    Never mind, figured it out.

Great game, hopefully the devs decide to add additional content as well. This is what IOS needs.

I feel like sharing my first impressions of this game (after about 1.5 hours of gameplay) because there's a lack of good reviews for this.

For all the inspirations this game takes from the Zelda franchise, it seems it didn't learn from the most important ones:

    • Telegraphed attacks (lack of). Goblins and skeletons have powerful attacks, and you have a shield. However, their attacks happen almost instantly; there's seldom any forewarning. Their relatively short attack animations make this even worse.
    • Level design. So far it has ranged from ok to bad. The first four islands I've visited are littered with objects and paths that look traversable, but are not. Other times there were paths that didn't look traversable but actually were. Consistency is severely lacking.
    • Stacking interactive objects. A chest at one point appeared so close to a statue that interacting with the chest was really cumbersome - it kept reopening the statue text box instead. People often walk close to signposts or even other people, making you have to wait for them to split up before you can interact with one of them.
    • World hit detection. When you walk into objects (like boulders and boxes), hit detection is good. But many parts of the world, like cliffsides and archways, let you pass halfway through them. And they don't respond to your sword attack in any way. It feels very off.

I'm sure many will see this as nitpicky, but this is basic game design that should be the expected bare minimum from what is considered a premium and - I think - high profile game. These flaws detract severely from the experience, especially for us who have played the games it so openly has been influenced by. It makes the whole experience feel more like cheap (but expensive in iOS world) immitation rather than honorable homage.

I'm not sure I can be bothered playing through it, because flaws like these just make me want to play a proper Zelda game instead, of which I have many, and all of them portable...

I really, really wish that the log book contained the name of the island the characters are located on!

I can't for the life of me remember where The Collector who wants the Bloodstones are located...

I've been searching several islands now, and it's becoming extremely frustrating not to be able to find a character who may or may not be essential to the story, but is the sole reason for me to go out of my way to obtain Bloodstones.

I can see what he says in the logbook, but when it doesn't actually tell me where he's located it doesn't help at all...

I can only imagine how frustrating this might be when I've unlocked more islands each containing several well hidden caves, secrets and houses (often with no signposts)...

I'm a bit surprised that such a small team (core being only 3 members!) created such a nice game.

Credits are minuscule, compared to the army of people who usually works in a Zelda release.

    The game has issues?
Yes, it has. But devs are reachable and eager to fix asap what's wrong (a convenience that a boxed game on a cartridge doesn't have).
I only expect this game to get better and more bug-free with future updates.
Kudos to the team for such a quality job. I'm pretty sure it was a lot of hours of hard work and dedication.

I think the nitpicks are valid, and there's no real reason to limit the list just because. I still enjoy the game from what I've played so far. I've definitely run into most, if not all, of the points listed, but they haven't ruined the game for me.

I am absolutely loving the game! It feels inspired by Zelda series and Wind Waker specifically, but that is a great thing! It's the same reason that Zenonia series did so well.

Anyway, I have a couple small suggestions. Please create a Save Game feature in the options to allow us to save anywhere. Those checkpoints aren't even save spots when you've already activated one and come back to it minutes later to save again. It won't save anything from after the first time you've activated it. It also says not to worry because all we do and obtain is always saved all of the time. However, that is not true. After I activate a checkpoint, I gain five gold from killing some monsters and return to the title screen, but when I enter my game again, my five gold is gone. So our progress is not always saved all of the time. Only at checkpoints and only when it hasn't already been activated once. A save game option would allow for more play time since I don't always have 20 minutes to play. Sometimes I only have 5 minutes and then have to stop even though I haven't reached another one of your checkpoints. Please let us dictate our own checkpoints and saves.

Also, I just want to be able to jump or climb one level. But I understand some Zelda games didnt have jumping or climbing so it isn't too weird.

Alright, just to finalize for those reading the forums... moving forward in the game got me back to the point where I though there was a game-breaking bug (basically, a crate does not reset/re-appear after I destroyed it). The area is passable without the crate. Not an issue. To the Devs, thanks for your responses, regardless. The game is great, just a little frustrating at points (minor complaints, overall).

Thank you. I'll give that island another shot...
Still wish locations were saved in the logbook, it would have spared me 45 minutes of doing nothing but sailing between islands and searching fruitlessly for someone I've already talked to once before...

So let me get this straight; because the game is cheap compared to other game consoles, I am not allowed to complain about issues that are quite real and impede my gameplay?

I've bought similarly priced games on the 3DS eShop (Dillon's Rolling Western, for example) that was completely polished and bug free. Why should I be more forgiving when it's an app store game developed by indies (who nonetheless can get Nobuo Uematsu to compose excellent music for it)?

I'm not here to tell you that *you* can't enjoy it, but to provide some details of failings and my experience with it. The reason I bothered is because I felt TA's review glorified it; I wouldn't have bought it if I had known these things.

It looks great but plays poorly.

Well there is one important point I must make when comparing to zelda and other games is that zelda and games on ds and all that have to be finished products, they get hundreds of people playing the game, some purposefully mucking around, to try to find bugs, whereas an iOS game is much harder to make a finished product. A game might have no bugs at all, but if your device can't handle it and crashes, that is you devices problem, not the games.

    HEY DEVS!
Found a pretty big bug on
    graveyard island
Basically by going into the house you can use the magic throw to put an object onto the switch which lowers the blocks, so you can skip to the very end of the dungeon where you can get an easy
    200 coins
, however, you miss most chests and would probably go through the dungeon normally like I did afterwards. Here is a picture image.jpg

    Also, why do
fish people have two sets of eyes? They have the big ones on the side and then a human face on the front. Weird

Also, the first time I got a
    golden gear
the game crashed, and kept crashing when I tried to open the chest. After restarting my iPad everything went ok.

It would be nice if the collector told you how many bloodstones you need for the prize. I have 22.

I'm not sure if this was a bug or not...
while looking for the wind directional thingy I decided to look for it on the isle with the bloodstone collector, and about halfway there a cutscenes came up with the boys dad playing a flute or something asking the gods for his sons safety or something. Seemed a bit out of place.

    And finally, I NEED HELP
    Where do you
get the wind directional thing for the old guy? Looked all over hermits isle!

QA is a given for any game. And this is a finished product; I certainly did not pay for beta access here...

You don't need hundred people to test your game to see that its level design and enemy attack telegraphing isn't up to snuff, however... I'm starting to think it's more that you don't have to because people are more forgiving on small teams and iOS / Android games.

But look at, say, the two Rayman games; they're amazingly polished, and they're cheaper to boot. Sure they were made by Ubisoft, a huge corp, but why should we forgive bad game design just because the team is smaller for this game? Isn't that unfair towards actually polished games? If all the graphical sheen means you have to skimp on gameplay polish because your team is small, I'm sorry to say this; you're not doing a good job. I don't want to be mean, but I make games myself (not for mobile, one-man team currently), and I feel this is an important point to be made.

Then again, because of its looks it'll probably sell amazingly well and set a precedent for future games. Sad but true.

I didn't mention the few crashes I had because I know it's not an optimal platform for gaming. Rebooting the device made it run smoother on a 4S too, as is usual.
